[With one last nod, Nezumi turned and darted out the door, pulling Shion after him. He kept close to the wall as he lead them down the hall, barely breathing and doing his level best to keep as silently as possible.

He'd intentionally left the cell phone and ear piece in the room, just in case it went off and gave away their position, yet he heard the warning cheep of Hamlet as they neared the laundry room.

Ducking into the room, he didn't wait - he just shoved the dryer to the side a bit and knelt before the vent. He pulled at the latches and swung the door open, his impatience evident as he snapped back up to standing. The next instant, he was ripping the super-fiber cloak off his shoulders and wrapping it around Shion's.]

Hurry up. Get in and start crawling up. You hear anything behind you that's not me and you freeze, got it airhead?

[ Shion had followed closely and carefully with Nezumi's urgent tugging. They made it to the laundry room without a hitch, but the sound of scraping metal as Nezumi pulled the dryer aside was sure to have alerted the intruders of where the inhabitants of room 103 had gone.

His eyed the doorway warily, the darkness foreboding. Even with his eyes now accustomed to the dark, he could barely make anything out in the hallway. Were those footsteps the trick of a paranoid mind or did they truly belong to a stranger's approach? Before Shion could make any confirmation, Nezumi had caught his attention again.

The cloak on his shoulders, Shion frowned unsure whether to protest the inclination that Nezumi might not be following or calling him an airhead while they were in a tight spot. Shion ducked into the air duct, turning to check if Nezumi was following close. ]

Nezumi?!

[That definitely wasn't a sound made by one of the mice. Nezumi scowled rather fiercely at Shion, eyes locking for the briefiest of seconds before he whispered a rather harsh 'just go!', and then shut the door right in the other's face as quietly as possible. He ignored the weight of Shion's gaze through the slits in the grate as he quickly relatched it into place, then scrambled across the room.

A light leap had him crouched on top of the other dryer opposite the wall where Shion was. He reached up and placed his fingertips on the ceiling, ran them along the chipped and peeling paint as if frantically looking for something.

Let them think he was still looking for a way out, draw their eye from Shion. That's all he could really do, now.

That and hope the idiot was using the time to get away properly.]

Awful bit of crazy here! bestlieutenant September 14 2011, 20:19:23 UTC
If the footsteps in the hall, the heavy click-clack! of heels, sound as a warning, then the cackle that echoes off the walls is sure as a siren. The interval of steps comes closer and closer together, the woman they belong to has broken into a run for the laundry room.

It's a miracle she doesn't come skidding across the floor when she appears in the doorway, but the imposing figure in the dark, tall with a wild mane of curls, and oppressively black robes holds an unnatural kind of poise.

Bellatrix Lestrange's eyes widen when they fix on Nezumi upon the dryer. Without a spoken word, her wand arm slices through the air, a spell aimed to send the boy toppling from his perch.

[ Unfortunately, Shion was not the type to always follow through with what Nezumi hoped he would do. He couldn't leave Nezumi alone. His hand clutched at the cloak wrapped around his shoulders, Nezumi should have kept it to protect him.

The ominous cackle cut through his thoughts like a knife. Shion's breath hushed as he watched the intruder reveal herself. He can't leave him there. He can't leave Nezumi.

Fingers latching on the grate, eyes widen as the spell is cast.

No. ]

[Whatever Nezumi was expecting when Frankenstein's Bride came tearing into the room, it wasn't to be thrown from his perch by the wave of a wand, of all things.

But thrown he was.

Right off his feet and skittering across the floor to slam into the opposite wall. He winced as the breath was knocked out of him with the impact, then pushed up to one hand, shifted to look up at the woman... and then he smiled.

There was no mirth in the curve of his lips as he looked up at her with a quiet defiance.]

...Coulda just said 'get down' you know, but thanks for the help.

Bellatrix grinned and with a flick of her wand, Nezumi was lifted from the floor, left to hang in mid-air. "Oh, but why leave up to others what you can do yourself?" she asked, voice pitched high and mocking.

Her head canted to one side, lips pulling into a smirk as she stepped forward slowly. "I'm going to make this simple for you." The green glow from outside bathed her face in an eerie play of light and shadow. "I'm looking for those escape tokens. If you have any, you'll hand them over, and I'll leave you be."

With Nezumi still suspended, Bella's gaze slid toward the grate behind which Shion was hiding, as if she somehow knew he was there. "And if you refuse to comply..." Fire sprung to life at the end of her wand as though it were the lit wick of a candle.

The threat was left to hang heavily in the air.

[ If there was still room to snark, it looked like Nezumi was fine. So then that weapon of hers could displace gravity? Watching from the air duct, Shion was hurriedly analyzing the situation.

Nezumi wasn't hurt- but if she hurt him...

From his point of view, her indicative gaze went unnoticed. All he saw was the flicker of fire come to life at the end of the pointed stick.

In a rush, Shion kicked down the grate hoping to create a sort of distraction for Nezumi. In a fluid motion he picks up the fallen grate and flings it at the woman. ]

Nezumi! The stick!

[Immediately following the grate, Nezumi pulled his switchblade from his pocket and flicked it open in one swift move, then sent it cutting through the air, right at the woman's hand.

Hopefully it'd be enough to make her drop the... wand.

She was really using a wand. Just where in hell had they been dragged off to?]

Insolent little--

The witch sprung into action, dropping Nezumi in favour of casting a shield charm to deflect the grate. Bellatrix twists out of the way of the knife, leaving a stray curl to flutter to the ground where it was severed from the rest.

With wild eyes she turns her attention toward Shion, transfiguring her wand into a whip to lash out with the intention of wrapping around his neck. "You dare strike against me?!" Bellatrix shrieks. "This isn't difficult, children! Yes, or no, do you have those tokens?!"

Nezumi only just managed to get his arm up before Shion in time. The whip curled around his forearm and pulled nastily at the stitches there - he could feel a few of them tear, though he gave them no mind. Instead he focused his coldest glare on this creature that dared threaten Shion in such a manner as his own fingers wrapped around the whip.

And without a word, not even a hint of an answer or denial, he gave the whip a sharp jerk as he threw out a sharp kick, aimed right for her belly.

If he could get her down, and get this wand-thing away from her, they had a fighting chance of getting out of there alive. And to him, that was all that really mattered.

Caught by surprise, Bellatrix stumbled forward, and then back again after Nezumi delivered a kick to her abdomen. Impossibly, the whip snapped as she staggered with a heavy grunt, leaving an impotent length of leather dangling from the boy's arm. The recoil sent flying from the witch's hand the nearly thirteen inches of walnut, and her diving after it with an indignant shriek as it clattered to the floor, skittering some several feet from her.

Nezumi had saved him again. The whip would have coiled around his neck before he could have braced himself-- but here he was, safe behind Nezumi from the would-be choke hold. Just when Shion thought he would be the one to protect Nezumi in this world, it was still the other way around.

Her shriek snapped Shion out of his stupor. Thought process clicking back into place, fueled by adrenaline.

Now

Shion caught hold of Nezumi's wrist.

"C'mon!"

Nezumi didn't need telling twice - he simply nodded and followed after Shion as they made their way right back to the vent.

Though he did sweep down long enough to snatch his switchblade off the ground.

And he dis spare a half glance back to the woman scrambling after her wand before disappearing up the vent after the other boy. It was cramped, barely enough room for them to climb up, but dark and most importantly away from the crazy witch, so for Nezumi it was good enough.

So long as she didn't try to follow.

"To hell with you!" Snarled shrill as Bellatrix scrambled toward her wand. With a flourish, she pointed toward the doorway behind her without looking at it. Conjured stones appeared from nothingness and at once began to fill and block over the room's exit. With a howl of laughter, Bella clamoured to her feet and raced for the doorway, planting a palm flat on one of the bricks so she could vault over the building wall.

They may escape her, but she'll claim victory by barring others from the same route. Even with implements of destruction, the next batch bright enough to try this way will find the wall fairly immutable - securely warded by Lestrange's powerful magic.
