There must be some end to this, or someplace where the forest starts to loop.

Commander Orion. He has been trying to contact the passengers of Crucible in order to help us, for at least a few months.

He contacts the Crucible occasionally through the sphere network, though some messages aren't so clear. He said Ganymede has been trying to prevent communication between him and any passengers.

I don't know much more than that.

Or is that not what you were asking?

Orion said that he was once part of this ship, so it stands to reason that if Ganymede has a Sphere, so should he. It could be how the entire company operates! I mean, why use these communications device for one ship and not the entire fleet?

That makes sense, but the knowledge of an entire company of people using a standardized device doesn't help any great deal. Since we haven't seen anyone over the sphere network that wasn't on board the ship we have to assume that it doesn't extend very far, and that Orion was previously contacting the network by some other means.

Of course, barring the possibility that Ganymede wants to and is somehow restricting spheres' range.
