[ It hasn't so much been Chouji's favorite week in Luceti. There's something to be said for getting picked up and dropped off by scientist robots with no idea what happened in between and all. [Right after he finished that sentence, he may notice Shino's body dissolve into hundreds of kikaichū that fly pass him and spread out trying to cover as much ground as possible. What you thought he answered the door the door HIMSELF? You crazy.

[Nice trick. He'd comment on it, but now's not the time. He simply nods and heads for the roof - it's faster than taking eight flights of stairs only to search on ground level.

Shikamaru doesn't speak until they've cleared the roof of CH 1, touching down in a tree before jumping to another and the the roof of House 11.]

Something happened to him; I don't know what. We were talking on the journals and he just stopped and fell. [He can't get that picture out of his head.

That's actually a good thing.]

Before that, he said he was in the plaza. He was lying - the journal feed was too quiet, so wherever he's at, he's the only person there. Too much grass, too. Even so, that's where he would've been heading.

[Honestly, Naruto would've also been an awesome person to have for this. Though he wouldn't be as accurate as Shino. He stays quiet for most of the way, pondering what it could possibly be. He hasn't heard anything about anyone suffering from any internal life threatening problems like heart attacks, etc. so it's probably not that... there's a good chance that he could've been poisoned though. And that's really bad. He's increasing his speed a little.]

Is it possible his food was tainted...?

His and no one else's? [If it was food poisoning, chances are it would've hit people with weaker stomachs before this; if it were intentional, there's more troublesome people than Chouji to go after. Still a possibility - some of the people here are sadistic enough - but...

He shakes his head.] No point guessing until we find him, but I think it's something else.

[He'll simply nods in response. He's actually paranoid to think that this could possibly be an attack on just them. Of course he can't really think of anyone who would want to, or what they've done to warrant an attack, but still. It's a possibility. But Shikamaru's right. No point in doing it until they get to him. A few more seconds of silence and then he speaks.]

They've found him. [He changes direction slightly so they'll be going down the quickest route.]

[It might be pointless to guess at the problem, but it doesn't stop about a dozen scenarios from going through his mind anyways. Time is an issue for most of them...]

[He could've given him an exact distance if he absolutely had to. But there was no need. Chouji was just right up ahead. He answered him by looking forward with a stern look. Shino is boss at communicating obv.]

There. [Since their job is done the bugs in the surrounding area around Chouji will be returning to him now.]

[There's no need to follow his lead anymore with Chouji in sight now, so Shikamaru pulls ahead, crouching down next to his body moments later.]

Chouji. [He's not going to respond to his name - Shikamaru can tell that right away. Chouji isn't looking well, skin pale and expression pained but fading. Is he breathing? His chest is barely moving. Shikamaru places two fingers at Chouji's neck, searching for a pulse, while positioning his other hand about an inch away from Chouji's mouth and nose in hopes of feeling air against it.

Come on, Chouji. You better not die here.]

It's true that Chouji won't respond to his name being called, but the checkover won't prove to be as fruitless.

They're bordering too light, stuttering, and erratic- but he has a pulse and he's still breathing, if someone is looking for signs of life. ]

[He breathes out a thin sigh of relief. It's not much, but at least he's not dead. Yet.

Immediately Shikamaru stiffens with tension once again. That won't happen. He won't let it, so he'd better get to work.]

He's alive, but he's going to need a medic.

[He turns Chouji onto his side - recovery position; try to keep the airways clear - and works at the straps holding his armor in place and calls over his shoulder.] You remember where Katara lives, Shino?

[He might not know her as well as he and Chouji do, but she did take care of them for about a week when all of them were aged down to kids.]

[He already knows Shikamaru has probably thought up a plan by now. He doesn't know what Katara has to do with it, but he's going to go with whatever he says. He would know what's best for Chouji after all.]

As he moves on to the next binding, Shikamaru spots Chouji's journal, still lying open.] I'll try and raise her on the journals, but we need to work fast. You can find her and bring her here quicker than she'll be able to run.

[He nods and then whoooosh! He's gone to go pick up Katara. He has no idea why he's going to get her of all people. Perhaps she's really skilled at some sort of healing ability? In any case he's trust Shikamaru's word nonetheless and won't question it.

Hopefully she doesn't mind a sneaky visitor suddenly intruding into her home like whoa.]

[That. Is the weirdest ride ever. And even more disorienting than teleportation. But Katara's steady again as soon as she's able to stand on her own two feet.]
