Admin: Saving Numb3rs Information

Nov 11, 2009 14:30

CBS has officially canceled Numb3rs [ Source]. Maybe this doesn’t come as a surprise to a lot of people, but I know I am incredibly saddened to see the show go. (Quite frankly, I'm in serious denial about the whole thing.) So, to that end, I will only say thank you Numb3rs… for being the best damned TV show on television for 5 wonderful years. Thank you to the cast and crew who gave us something worth watching with mystery and intrigue, romance and comedy, and most importantly - science and math! (Hey, I'm a chemist/mathematician. Where did you expect my loyalties to lie? *smiles*) I wish only wonderful things for all those who brought us Numb3rs every week, to those who made our favorite characters come to life and who gave them a voice. I wish the entire cast and crew even greater success in the years to come and again, I say thank you for the absolute best six seasons of any show on TV.

I've decided to go ahead and keep this page active just as a testament to the effort that was made to try and save our show. I hope you all will continue to enjoy the splendor that Numb3rs was and that it will continue to be. :)

THIS will now be the official Saving Numb3rs thread. I am putting all the information from previous posts into this thread and tagging it as "saving numb3rs." Any and all further information needs to be posted here. I have added a link to this post in the profile information and to the community page text. I will post reminders in the daily picspam of where this post is. I am also going to post-date this entry (after today) so that it remains at the top of the community page to make it easier to find.

Please add all new information to this thread; also post to saven3central and/or numb3rs_notice (following the rules of those communities). Posts made outside of this thread will be deleted. (Rules are rules.)

Thank you to xhangingaroundx, karahkwa, and lilacs_roses for the contributions.

UPDATE 01-08-2010: According to USA Today, Numb3rs Season 6 WILL end at 16 episodes and be replaced with a new medical drama by Jerry Bruckheimer at the beginning of April (source.) However, per the comments from Rob Morrow, April to mid-May is when CBS needs to hear from the fans. This is when the execs make the decision for what shows will be on next Season depending on what new shows are available and how well the replacement show does (which, personally, I hope it tanks. Why do we need another medical drama? Please. Numb3rs is at least unique. /rant) So, don't give up hope just yet. Get those letters in, sign the petition, let CBS know that we're not happy and we want at least another 16 episode Season 7!!

UPDATE 01-09-2010: According to Ausiello and IfMagazine, CBS President Nina Tessler said recently that Numb3rs is absolutely still being considered for another season. Her reasoning for shortening this season of Numb3rs doesn't exactly make sense, but the fact that she is still considering Numb3rs for next season is a positive sign. We can help make the decision easier for her by writing to her and letting her know how much we want another season! Keep up the good work folks!

UPDATE 02-09-2010: In the February 8th issue of TV Guide (pg. 17), the note speculates that two of the three Friday night shows will be back - meaning somebody has to go. If you don't want it to be Numb3rs, keep writing those letters and watching the show!

Endangered series need viewer support

‘Numb3rs’ (10 p.m. Fridays, CBS)
CBS executives know that “Numb3rs” gives them some of the highest ratings figures on Friday nights. But the crime procedural is getting old and the drama already has enough episodes in the bank to make the switch to syndication. As a result, CBS is wrapping up the show’s sixth and current season in March and giving the time slot to a new Jerry Bruckheimer doctor drama called “Miami Medical,” which debuts April 2. Does an early finale spell an early end? Not necessarily, but fans who want to see this series come back for a seventh season better start writing just to be safe. (Source)

I think this should be our new motivation for renewing the write-in campaign! It's really that time when CBS needs to hear from us. I kind of feel like so many people have given up. And maybe that's because we all don't want to be devastated if we don't save the show, but that's not a reason to give up just yet. Tell your friends... let's get the fire started and try to really make a push for the write-ins until we know what is to come of our show!

UPDATE: 04-01-2010 E! Online is hosting a "Save One Show" campaign. Numb3rs has made this list but needs as many votes as possible by Sunday April 4th at 4pm to make the Top 5 cut.

You can vote a million times a day if you want to, as long as you enter the "code" at the bottom. No email address or personal information required.

Come on people. Some of you may have given up but some of us have not. I'm not going down without a fight!

Now, go vote! :)
