SENSOR PERMISSION POST
In D.Gray-Man, one of Allen's special abilities is the ability to see the souls of Akuma as well as any dark matter/energy that may come from a person or an akuma. This is part of what makes him special from the get-go, it's super plot relevant to the character and why he looks so weird and a bunch of other shonen crap. GO  ( Read more... )

Yeah so Raine's Exsphere is...kind of a trapped soul. It's never specified who it is, but can be assumed to be a random human, probably in a work tunic and tortured before death. No idea how old it is - potentially anywhere from fresh to hundreds or thousands of years old.

She only gains Light energy from it, however.

OKAY SO, Colette's cruxis crystal falls under 2, because her cruxis crystal was created from the soul of a person... probably a human slave. Heh, but the fun part is that she uses it to use light magic so... yeah. But he'll probably be able to see the soul trapped inside.

Thirding the Exsphere/trapped soul thing, though Lloyd's is technically a Cruxis Crystal by now. I always thought it'd be kind of tragic if Allen could see Anna with her arms wrapped around Lloyd, protecting him. She's not in pain, though she's obviously trapped, and she loves Lloyd very much. Canonically, Anna does occasionally talk to Lloyd when shit gets bad, and we see her for like .5 seconds in the OVA.

I totally forgot to talk to you about this... lol.

Sounds good! That thought actually occurred to me about whether or not Allen would have been able to see Anna, but it was after we already thread in person so I figured I can always...retcon it later once i talked to you about it (but I kept forgetting sob). I will say he just choose to have his eye off while he was near Lloyd since he tends to keep it off near the castle B)

While the Man in Black isn't undead or harnessing dead souls, he is pretty much the embodiment of dark energy back where he comes from. You see, before he was a pretty normal guy for the most part before he got tossed in the magical Heart of the Island by his twin brother.

The Heart of the Island is said to be the origin of all life, death, and rebirth, but some of the scientists who came on the island in later years hypothesized that the Heart contained "negatively charged exotic matter", which manipulates space and time and is basically some really dark force that you shouldn't mess with. At all.

So, the Man in Black was severely warped by whatever forces are behind the Heart, and was changed into a literal cloud of smoke that could take on the forms of those who were already dead. If this does trip Allen's sensor, then I suspect he would be able to see a pretty dark haze around the guy, considering that he is the embodiment of malevolence.

UM YEAH I DON'T EVEN KNOW LOST IS PRETTY WEIRD OKAY :I
