vaulted ceilings

i just moved into my apartment and one of my major problems i'm having is trying to figure what to do with the vaulted ceilings in my bedroom. the bare look isn't working for me, it feels cold. does anyone have pictures of what they've come up with in their own places? maybe lighting suggestions or any suggestions? thanks!!! :)

Maybe draping some lush fabric? I'm thinking of a canopy effect..

that's a good idea because my bed is totally plain looking! i have a futon so it's basically looks like a box with my blanket over it ~ hahaha... i'll have to find some cheap fabric or something... :) thanks for helping!

How about buying a few can uplighters and some lighting gels & playing around with colorwashes? You could aim the uplighters through plants for intersting shadow patterns, too.

that's a good idea with the plants and shadow effects. i saw an idea in the budget living magazine for February(http://www.budgetlivingmedia.com/) that showed a projecter with different lighting designs to project onto a wall...so i was thinking of something along those lines, but i'm too broke! BUT i think the plant thing you came up with would be easier and cheaper! it would give some color and depth to the walls. i'll try and post pictures when i come up with something. thanks for the idea! :)

I have vaulted ceilings too, and although I don't have much on my walls I do have a canopy that makes a big difference. If you back up a dozen entries or so I posted a bunch of pics :)

that's cool, i'll have to search for it in a minute. i was thinking of maybe mounting something like this too on a section of the wall and hanging a light from above... or maybe even going with the plant and shadow effect that was mentioned too & hanging a house plant from above... i dunno yet! :)

I'd like to do more with my room as well, but I don't own a ladder tall enough! The ceiling at it's highest is at about 12-13 feet. Even putting up that canopy int he middle was difficult!
