I am broke. I have a toddler. This is what I made with a hand-me-down tree and ornaments, a pile of scrap fabric, paper, and my google image search engine.

Ah yes, that is an older wreath that I picked up in graduate school (I was even poorer back then!). But as the posters said below, it's easy to make! Mine is actually plastic. I've seen ornaments on craigslist but you could ask your folks or friends for their hand-me-down ornaments (I am all about recycling).
