This dresser was a $10 Craigslist find. It was originally forest green and had bamboo ALL over it, and had hemp fabric glued to the top. Of course halfway through pulling off the bamboo I remembered to take a "before" picture. (Pay no attention to the giant mess. We had just moved in.)
This might sound silly, but how did you get the fabric down so seamlessly? I'm really wanting to do over our ugly handmedown couch, but I'm worried about furniture tacks or staples making my job look bad... You chair is beautiful, I love black white and red together like that.
I wish I had my before shots, from best I can tell it's a home made hoosier and the person who made it really loved to go thick with paint. There were so many drip marks of off-white paint. Took me forever to strip it off. There are still some spots I couldn't get perfectly smooth but it's only noticeable when the morning sun hits it.
Please excuse any blurriness/the angle, my room is almost impossible to photograph in.
I picked up this dresser at Goodwill a few weeks ago. It seems to be midcentury and was in great condition except for appearance. The wood was oak and there were moisture rings embedded so far in that we decided sanding it down to restain would be far more trouble than it would be worth, and just went with painting it black. The knobs/handles had aged to a bronze color as well, I was really surprised when we managed to sand them back to silver. Total cost with paint? Around $25. ;)
Don't feel bad, this is my first stroke of luck there.
I'm even more amazed that it was still there for me to buy when I finally convinced myself to do so...it had been sitting there for a week when they usually sell furniture in a day or two!
