Summer Bedroom

May 04, 2010 14:37

I decided this year that I'd like to have summer bedding that was lighter both in weight and looks. That, and I'm an Etsy addict. Admitting is the first step, right?

I love that duvet cover. I'm adding that seller to my favorites on Etsy! Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome! She was great to deal with, too.

Mmmm, I really like this room with its cozy eclectic/Arts & Crafts vibe, especially in the autumn colors. We looked at that same paint color and went with Bird's Eye Maple from the same line! I'd love to see more of your cute bungalow to see how you've incorporated the look in other rooms. The dachshund comment made me laugh - we have the same issue with ferret fur on the bottom 4" of all our upholstered furniture.

If you ever decide to part with that pinecone jug, send up a flare!

The rest of the house is definitely a mixture, since most of the rest of the furniture in the house (which came from my previous post-war cottage) is more midcentury. I actually went back and forth between the Hubbard Squash and the Birds Eye Maple, too. Buying dachshund-colored couches was seriously the best design decision EVER. Before that, I could have bought stock in lint rollers.

Haha, I have the opposite problem with bedding - I love dark colors and have a cuddly white cat who thinks all sheets and duvets are his personal property. Thus, I have to go with the "crisp" aka "anseptic" look of white-on-"white" rental walls. Ack.

I digress entirely. Loooove that fabric. Love your beautiful floors! I have "unsaucy" bedroom furniture that looks very similiar to yours, also inheritted. It's too good of quality not to use, but it's very Country Early 90s Oak Revival. I like what you've done with yours! Maybe new hardware would help modernize it if you're looking for that?

White walls give me the sads. :-( I used to have a cream colored couch, and it was a DISASTER. Everything that comes in now generally is either dark or patterned enough to disguise the fur.

The floors are actually pretty awful in here, hence the rug. LOTS of paint spatter and worn finish. They need serious time with some Goo Gone and Rejuvenate and more likely a good refinishing. I suspect I'll just stick it out till the furniture comes back in style again. It's pretty difficult to find queen sized older bedroom furniture, anyway, and at least the brass hardware isn't TOO shiny in person.

The company has some awesome rugs. I really liked this one, too. If you go to the "Transitional" section of the website, they show my rug in a different color under "Kalista," but if you click on it, it's not listed in the collection. :-(
