Hi-Rise Poolhouse

This is my current dwelling place, a 592 sq/ft 1-bedroom unit on the 25th floor of a 30-story condominium in the central business district of Manila, Philippines.

Concept
Its basic theme is beach/coastal. It started off as a surfer's shack in Hermosa Beach, CA, and has moved up the Strand to Manhattan Beach in the past three years. It's something out of one of my fanfics, actually, that I decided to make real.

I wanted a space that is informal and casual. A flip-flop, cut-off, no shirt kind of place. A place where you can come in damp and soggy from a swim and not mind splattering: thus the woven-type rug, the plain wipeable surfaces of glass and wood, and the leather furniture. It's a place in complete juxtaposition with its actual location: at one of the busiest intersections in the city, surrounded by office buildings on three sides and on the fourth looking out onto the older neighborhoods towards the river.

I moved in right away and did no remodeling. I don't like built-ins at all, so aside from a preexisting closet that I had doubled, and the kitchen cabinets, nothing was added. It helps cut down on belongings. Theoretically, when I move (hopefully to the U.S.), I can bring everything but the paint.

And considering I have that paint premixed in a couple of cans under my kitchen sink ...
