Dear Yuletide Author

Dear Yuletide author,

I am so excited for yuletide this year! This is my third year participating (see still-relevant letters from 2012 and 2013) and I am, as ever, delighted to be here. I've had fun with every exchange I've done.

I'm Diaphenia on AO3.

Let’s talk about things I like and dislike, generally.

Love: Getting together stories. Tropes, especially for comedy fandoms (think roadtrips, broken elevators, anything that requires characters to spend time together). Ensemble fic, even more than shippy stuff (with an exception or two). Related, but found families are my thing, and most fandoms I read reflect that love. Spy AUs: a total bulletproof fandom kink. Banter. Flirting. Friends setting up friends. Hijinx. Groundhog's Day AUs.

Loathe: Baby/pregnancy fic, or spending much time with canon children. Major OCs- I nominate fandoms because I want to spend time with the characters I love. Kinky fic, since I’m extraordinarily picky about kink!fic. Religion. Fluff. Incest. Rape. Character-bashing. Gross-out humor. Miracles.

Additional details: I’m fine with sexytimes, as long as it’s not PWP (there is one exception listed below). Or fading to black is totally cool too. Action scenes make my eyes glaze over. And I’m not big on alternative POVs on canon scenes. I love fusions though I don't want crossovers for these fandoms.

Nothing Much to Do
Bea, Ben

I’ve fallen in love with a webseries. Nothing Much to Do is a New Zealand high school-based modern-day retelling of Much Ado About Nothing, and I just adore it. It feels real, and every time I’ve worried they’re going to get too silly (say, actually faking Hero’s death) they surprise me. I think it’s a fabulous and intelligent version of the story, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends.

I’m requesting Ben and Bea because I love their snappy banter and am always a fan of their hate-to-love dynamic.  I’m particularly interested in seeing them get together rather than being an established couple. Feel free to include anyone from the ensemble, as I find all the characters delightful in their own ways. This is also one of those fandoms that I'd love to see my favorite tropes: confined spaces, road trip, fake dating, sharing a bed.

Prompts:

I’d love to see what happens in a scenario where Hero really does cheat on Claudio. I think Bea tends to idealize her cousin, thinking she could never cheat because she drinks her tea pinky-up, but I also think that’s her inexperience talking; in real life, people of all types cheat, and I think that knowledge would stress Bea out but also have some super interesting character growth.

Basically any Love God shenanigans- trapping them in confined spaces? tricking them into going on dates?

Fake dating. I wrote a fic about this, but it’s also one of my favorite tropes.

Bea and/or Ben find a mostly forgotten play by a minor playwright that seems to describe their lives....

If you want to go AU, this would be an awesome fandom to do so: age them up and put them in college, or make them spies (bullet-proof kink) or send them to summer camp or working at a Ren Faire or have them as a theatre troupe

And anything that makes use of the 400 years of this ship would entertain me.

Fandom-specific DNW: please, nothing too sexually explicit. There’s basically no fourth wall between the creative team and the fans (one of the actors follows me on tumblr) and I have no idea if it would bother them, but it sort of weirds me out, personally.

Huge

any

This tv show from 2010 was so amazing, starring a cast of mostly plus-sized actors. It took place a weight-loss camp, and featured really amazing characters, including a probably trans*kid, a black nerd girl, an asexual counselor, and a baby Hasselhoff. The show was cancelled after ten episodes, leaving a lot of cliffhangers and not much fic. I’d love something that wrapped up the season, or at least continued that summer. I recently rewatched and it was as brilliant as when I first watched it.

I requested any from the character set Chloe, Trent, Ian, and Will. I love all the characters on the show (except Dr. Rand, who grated on my last nerve for reasons I can’t parse out) so feel free to focus on whoever, but I hope at least one of these guys will be there.

Prompts:

That band with Trent, Ian, and Will-- did it take off?

Chloe, and her interactions with her brother over the summer

Trent and Ian’s one-sided bromance

Will/Ian-- did it ever happen? We know she had a crush, but did he ever realize just what a hottie she was?

Or go full on summer camp shenanigans-- popular kids verses unpopular kids color war? Boys cabin verses girl cabin prank war?

A to Z
Andrew, Zelda

This is, so far, my favorite new show of the season. I adore the premise, and generally love rom-com sitcoms (see HIMYM minus the ending, and The Mindy Project). I love the best friends, the work friends, the boss and Melissa McCarthy's husband. It's also a delightfully colorful show, and I love the shots of Andrew looking up at Zelda.

I love the ensemble, so feel free to add in anyone you'd like. As this is a living canon, I'll probably add a few more prompts as the show moves along.Prompts:

This is a show about the two of them developing a relationship, so any firsts are great: first fight, first night spent together, first time using labels, whatever.

Tropes! I love trops for sitcom fandoms, and here are my favorites: confined spaces, road trip, fake dating, sharing a bed.

Best friend shenanigans: how do Stu and Stephie team up to wreck havok on Andrew/Zelda?

5 different ways the season could end

That should be everything! If you need additional clarification, please feel free to reach out to
throwingpens. She may write her answer in all caps, but she gets me, fandom-wise.

Thanks!
