"Maybe that made her exactly as foolish as he was." - what a great line! You know, that's actually got me thinking about Ash and Misty - now that you say it, it seems so obvious, but it never occured to me before.

It's that unrequited love angle - thinking whether all your efforts are in vain or not. It's kind of frequently used with Misty, as it fits so perfectly.
