I answered this in my texture tutorial I have written some time ago here. :)

Don't worry about it. I just thought I would direct you to a detailed explanation I already wrote up!

When you make icons (especially the ones with a creative composition *points to icon*), do you work on a 100x100 canvas right away?

There was a couple times I tried to work on a 300x300 pixel canvas, but I that wasn't really my thing, so yes, when I make my icons I always start out either on a 100x100 pixel canvas, or resize the caps under 100x100 pixels and pull them on a 100x100 pixel canvas.

For the icon in use I started with a 100x100 pixel canvas. :)

Thanks for the question!

I think the notifications are not working properly...

Thanks for answering my question!
I tried working on a bigger canvas, but that didn't work for me, so I was really interested in what you do :D

When is a time when LJ functions properly? Such a poetic question. Lol.

Yeah, as I said I tried that too, but I prefer my good old 100x100 pixels approach. :)

1. When using a texture what blending mode do you use most often?

Well, when I am using a texture on an icon I mostly either put it as part of the background on the icon by either using Soft Light and Screen. Those modes give a softer effect. And sometimes I also use Hard Light with soft light textures to add a more interesting or striking colour effect to the icon. I also use Darken, Multiply or Linear Burn when I need to add more colour to the skin tone, I use those three modes on very low opacity though.

I hope this answers your question, which I thank you for!

1) Do you only use your own textures for making icons?

2) Do you get inspired by certain things to make icons, or do you just open photoshop and go for it? :)

1. Well, I mostly use my own, yes, but there are a couple makers whose work I use. But to be honest I am very picky with the textures I use, and it is mostly my own, because I kind of adjust my texture styles to my texture needs these past months.

2. Sometimes I just open PS and a random image of a show and kind of fool around trying new things and looking for new directions to go to, I think that is one part of while my style is constantly changing lately. Other times I get inspired by other people's icons, amazing makers like yourself, sarisafari, vetica, phaust_, wildpages, longerthanwedo, raiindust, fprintmoon, kawaii_chicken, calikalie... mostly, but I am sure I forgot to mention some.

1) It makes sense, your textures are perfect anyway, they are the ones I use most :)

2) I'm more of the first type myself, I just open photoimpact and go for it :)

Thank you for your answers! <33333333
