Title: Empathy, Inc. Characters: House, Wilson, some Cuddy and OCs Rating: PG Words: 5K Summary: Cuddy hires a company that provides 'empathy training' to doctors. House reacts. Set in an earlier season.
This story is fantastic and hilarious! It has the feeling of a good House episode from the early seasons. Thank you for writing and sharing it!
In my opinion House feels too much empathy and has to suppress it in order to stay objective and get to the right diagnosis just in time to successfully find a treatment and cure his patients.
Yep, better bedside manner is linked to fewer lawsuits, IIRC. But, as House would gently note, that doesn't prove this quickie empathy training course lowers lawsuits ;)
I definitely agree that House thinks "caring" would impede his rational mind.
Whenever I've seen that you've posted a fic, I am SO HAPPY!
House glanced at Wilson, whose cheeks were predictably turning a lovely shade of “oh, shit.”
The descriptions are priceless, the dialogue spot-on and very funny. I am so sorry about your knee (and missing dinner), but I am glad this story was the result!
Oh, dear, that was not a very empathetic response, was it?
The best fics are the ones where House sounds exactly the way I always hear him in my head: egregious, snarky, brilliant, and assholish. You have his voice down perfectly! And also Wilson's softly self-deprecating ability to puncture House en passant so deftly that House doesn't realize he's done it at first.

“Yes,” House affirmed.
I think it was about here that I really started laughing. What a great read! ♥
