I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it is interesting. Also I think lot of writers know these are friends in the challenge and like know what the category/prompt does to you, so it's not that they are consciously less unbiased, but they have a very different on-look, I guess.
I love seeing how things worked out, so these statistics were cool to see. I didn't know LJ polls used to do medians and the like -that would be helpful, haha.
People who don't write are stricter voters than writers themselves. Hmm, very interesting observation. Guess people who write might giving better ratings, because they can empathize with the tricky workings of getting the fic done :)
yeah I stalked the polls a lot as a writer two years ago, so I figured. And last time the fics run, the polls did give these statistic, you can check it out. But you can't see the poll code, so I can't tell if the mods were better at coding polls or LJ changed ;___;
I love this post and your observations a lot :) that's interesting!
I noticed some of them too and being in AU team I was really curious how AU can be not AU enough. It interesting for me what are the criteria for this.
I'm glad I participated, because without deadlines I'm too lazy and here I wrote a fic :)
I made some conclusion for myself after ficgames, it's really difficult with scorings for me.
And agree Akame is not popular anymore, but I'm deadly in love with my OTP XD XD XD
Thanks for interesting post and for being very supportive mod :)
as for AU. I'm not sure about other fics but I felt I am being downvoted because my fic featured Ueda as a songwriter and Ryo was still in entertainment business so maybe people felt it wasn't original enough. But the same plot wouldn't be possible in JE, so ....
And don't the scoring get to you! It really has many factors that have nothing to do with your writing <333
The eye of the insider, interesting :D I think writers are probably more keen to give higher votes because they know about the effort the other writers are doing as well? I don't know, I'm not sure. Anyway, it was nice to read some statistic from you, since you know everything that happened behind the curtain :D
