It's an Australian film (and I adore the Aussie sense of humour) and it's about the Parkes Radio Telescope which is located near Sydney and its involvement in the moon walk.
It's got a gorgeous, mellow late sixties soundtrack and it's all about how the residents of smalltown Australia cope with suddenly being thrust onto the world stage.
It's funny, sweet, irreverent and I could never tire of watching it!
When it comes to mushy, fluffy films I've got a bunch that I like, but top of my list has to be Pleasantville (wonderful b/w to color, bit of sweet romance, bit of action, idk self-realization(?)), and Strictly Ballroom (Australian, gentle romance, funny bits, scheming, dreaming, and, of course, dancing!).
And a J2 fic based on Singing in the Rain!!! Please tell me that you're going to write it!
I'm embarrassed to admit I've never seen Singing in the Rain. I adore the song, though! The only other song that probably makes me as happy, is the laughter song from Mary Poppins. I have no idea what its called, but its brilliant.
I can't think of a movie that I've seen over and over. There's probably more than one, but the only thing that comes to mind right now is Love Actually. I have this awful habit of just putting on a movie and fast forwarding to the bits I enjoy most. :B
Hey don't be embarrassed, as I said Saturday afternoons on BBC2 there was alwyas the chance you'd see it *G*.
I think it's more a case of somehting that lifts the spirits at the dark time of year. Supernatural helps too, but sometimes a little fluff is just the thing.
Yes I'm guilty of the old fast forwarding to favortie parts of films too.
Love Actually ROCKS! I love the writer/housekeeper relationship and the guy who goes to America and the guy with his mate's wife and...oh hell, I love all of them, but the writer one's my favourite :)
I guess I'm a sucker for a bit of romance, despite appearances.
I think my favourite scene from the movie is the wedding, where the orchestra pops up at the end. I LOVE things like that! I used to love the Prime Minister one, but every time I see it, it feels less and less realistic.
I adore romance and holiday movies, so...put the two together and I'd most probably love it. :D
On my phone atm but I'll be back later...mwahahahaaazz! ;)
The things that immediately come to mind *makes sure no-one's looking* film wise, Mrs Doubtfire. Makes me laugh and cry but I always end up with a smile. Same with Mannequin...cheesy but good! :D Pirates of the Caribbean, because helloooo, Johnny Depp! I'm not into romcoms so snuggly isn't something I can comment on. Maybe later!
Ah, I remember Mannequin, I think I like it because I've always thought the idea of being locked in one of those department stores at night would be awesome :)
(No doubt the reality isn't as great as they make it out to be).

I keep thinking about a J2 version, just minus the singing, I might even change Cosmo and Lena. But it could be fun *G*

Another confession... I actually did some artwork as J2 version for this film to spn_cinema this year.
http://wataru-kisugi.livejournal.com/6675.html
As you may notice, I too see Jared as Don Lockwood and Jensen as Kathy. In my version, Misha is Cosmo and Mark P is Lena.
Anyway, I'd LOVE to read your J2 version!!!

I saw your artwork and I loved it, and you know Misha would make a brilliant Cosmo.
Who knows maybe I'll cave and write it one day *G*

Any movie you write as J2 version will be AWESOME!! Can't wait!!
