Friends, Romans, Fl*sters, I have a quick question for those who are more google savy.  Does anyone know if Supernatural season 9 on DVD will be released in the UK soon? I have the Blu Ray on Pre order from Play.com, but I'm starting to hear some disconcerting noises about there not being enough interest in the show.  And the release date is being ( Read more... )

Yes I've noticed that happening a lot, and I'm pissed off about it. I even spoke to neflix tonight in an attempt to get someone to stream the show.

The Play.com pre-release was actually through Zavvi, who have since removed the date they had (20th October) from their own website. I've heard March too, which is why I think I'm going to invest in the US version from Amazon! (They have it on the UK Amazon website.)

It does make me wonder whether someone has bought it for broadcast, and that's why the DVD release has been set back, but I've not managed to confirm that anywhere! Sky have just added the fifth season of Justified to their on demand service after it was dropped by Five USA, so I wondered whether something like that might happen. Although probably not Sky. Bast*rds. There have been a lot of rumours about Netflix, but I don't know if that's because they're showing it in the US.

Hi there, it looks like I'm going to have to track down a region free Blu Ray box set if I want to watch the boys (legally).

In other news I contacted Netflix UK and I got if we bug them we might get the show screened over here. So I might go and post my conversation on one of the comms, see if that will help..

I've read that Warners don't Region encode their blu rays, so hopefully they'll play here!

Good luck with Netflix!

If you have an Android phone, Google Showbox.apk and install the app. It's got all seasons of SPN and gets S10 eps a few days after they air in the UK. I use it to stream to my TV via Google Chromecast which costs £30. It's a much better, bang up to date and free app.

I've ordered and paid for it on Play. I only ordered five days ago. Surely it's illegal to take money if there's no intention of sending it? Surely the discs are already produced so there's no reason to stall. The blu ray edition is still up on their site. Release date Monday. I'll be having very irate words with them if they fuck me about on this.

Incidentally, you can make any DVD or blu ray player region free by ordering a simple and cheap gadget from ebay. The one for my Sony player cost about £9 with a £3 refund once you'd used and returned it. Make sure you get the right one for your player. It's totally legal. Manufacturers only lock them to region to fuck with us.

You've paid for it on Play? I just pre-ordered mine without payment. Perhaps you should contact them and ask what's going on,

Can you tell me what the gadet it called? I've tried to find something for my Toshiba blu ray player but so far no luck.

Go to eBay and search for Toshiba DVD multi region hack remote. There will be a list of compatible players so make sure your model is on it. There are similar options for blu Ray conversion but I'm not fussed about that since most of my stuff is on DVD and blu ray takes so long to load.

If you have a multi-region DVD player you could get the DVDs from Australia as we both use PAL. Lots of people here buy DVDs from the UK because a lot of times your DVDs are cheaper or you have access to shows we have trouble getting hold of. The really el-cheapo brands of DVD players are often multi-region or completely region free and will play almost anything as long as its the same format. It's the well known brands like Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, etc that lock regions. If you check out the pretty much no-name brands, you'll find that most play all PAL DVDs. My player cost a fortune and is locked, my mother's cost less than $50 and will play anything. It's a completely different story with Blu-Ray. Some are region locked, some aren't but they very rarely will let you know if they aren't ( ... )

The irony is I do have an old multi regional DVD player! But my bright and shiny Toshiba Blu Ray player will only let me play the European discs (bugger).

I think the reason I'm so hacked off is it's just a matter of principal, yes I can and probably will import a disc. But the point is I shouldn't have to, if that makes any sense.

I agree, you shouldn't have to. It's beyond ridiculous to delay releasing the goddamn videos for such a long time. I can't fathom WBs reasoning behind it. I couldn't even understand why here in Australia we didn't have the same DVD release date as the USA, after all, it had finished airing here. And if there is no TV network to air it at all in the UK then why delay it?

Just shout if you need any help with stuff, and good luck with the fight!
