I disagree with you. Television shows exist first and foremost for entertainment. The creators of these shows are under no obligation to include certain character traits in the characters they create. Just because you don't see a character that has all of the same personality traits and interests as yourself on a television show does not make that show evil. It seems to me that what you really want is a television character exactly like you. I'm sure that the majority of the other 100 million American television viewers would like the same thing. It is not rational to expect all gay characters to capture the essence of you just as it isn't rational to expect all white characters to capture the essence of you, or all characters that served in the military, etc
