Got up early (for me, anyway) and went to break the ice on the goat's water, fed the pig, and let the chickens out. Some opted to stay, the others eventually found their way through the snow under the porch, I'm hoping they'll wander back to their nesting box soon

Maybe in Gold Bar y'all had a bit more than o're the GH peninsula way (where we have been trapped by 3 to 4 inches of snow).... but really!?!

I'd TOTALLY take deep snow to this. at my place in E-WA the snowplow got stuck in our driveway once. BUT... Imagine if Minnesota didn't have snowplows or sand trucks save, maybe, for the freeways. Top it off with a heap of California transplants Freaking out but driving anyway. Well, you're in it, too. I want my one-horse open sleigh.
Didn't we meet in weather like this?

We are getting loads of press coverage here about severe snow early in the year. We seem to have so far managed a couple of hard frosts with only snow in a few areas who largely expect it anyway.
