If I am feeling sad or depressed, anything by Bill Bryson will make me laugh. I have a gigantic stack of books on my to-read list.. I love Peter Mayle (true-life stories about living in the south of France) and Anne Lamott (a novelist who has begun writing about her spiritual journey - she can make you cringe, laugh, or say, "I am your long-lost twin sister"), and random travel books, among so many others...

I do need something a little more spiritual. I've been looking for guidance a lot these days...

i read a lot of kathy reichs, it's forensic anthropology, and the tv show bones is loosely based off her novels, though I cannot watch bones.
