Anything by Sherman Alexie (Native American centered fiction), Mary Roach (science that reads like novels they are so interesting), currently I'm devouring (no pun intended) The Walking Dead graphic novels becuz i'm an uber fan...which makes no sense as i hate the horror genre in general but tend to love zombie related things. go fig.
I hope it's still ok to add to the book list since the post is a few days old. It's hard to go with five but I'd recommend any of the books from the Musketeer series by Alexander Dumas (The Three Musketeers is my all time favourite book), anything by Barbara Kingsolver and Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
