Ranting is good for the soul.

Since the issue is on-going and personal, and the stupidity of various arguments was hurting my head, I decided to write out a comprehensive guide on the issue of gay marriage in order to avoid having a stroke. You will find it below; enjoy.

Why People Against Gay Marriage Are Totally Fucking Stupid (Or, Sara Is Sick Of Your Shit, STFU) )

rant, homophobia, goddammit!, go fuck yourself, *facepalm*, fucking ridiculous, stupid shit people say, gay rights, my god you're a moron, wtf?!

Dude, I was thinking these exact same things last night. TWINS?!

Really, you've hit the nail right on the head. I couldn't have said it better. Now if only people would listen. =/

/stand, applaud, salute

An issue that's close to my heart, not least of which is due to my quietly gay uncle and his partner. Both stable, upstanding citizens who own a home together, pay taxes, and who have been together since before I was born. Yet if my uncle were to get sick, I would have more legal rights as a niece to see him- indeed, to make medical decisions for him- then the man he loves and has shared his life with for decades.

I think the time is coming. Slowly, but it's coming, in the same way Loving v. Virginia finally rolled over despite ferocious opposition.

I respect people's right to hold a different opinion, no matter how fuckin' stupid I think it is (see also: intelligent design, anything remotely connected to Pat Robertson). But your right to an opinion MUST and SHALL come second to another person's right to personal freedoms.

(P.P.S.: Please stop using the Bible to prop up your bigoted views. Love, liberal believers everywhere.)

I definitely agree with this post, and the part about it having nothing to do with the Bible I definiately agree with, because it applied to me. When I got married, it was in a judge's chambers, a place I chose specifically, because I did NOT want it to be in a church, or by a priest, or having anything at all to do with religion, because I am athiest/agnostic. We wanted to be married because we wanted to make a commitment to each other, and so we could be legal spouses recognised by the state, federal government, and other people; it had nothing to do with God or any of that. If homosexuals/bisexuals are not allowed to marry members of the same-sex because it's somehow anti-religion, then athiests/agnostics shouldn't be allowed, either. People that hold religions other than Christianity/the Bible such as muslim and hindu ought not to be married in this country either, then.

::reads the additions:: Do not get me started on tyranny of the majority...

Also, as I already said, this is very well-done.
