Since the issue is on-going and personal, and the stupidity of various arguments was hurting my head, I decided to write out a comprehensive guide on the issue of gay marriage in order to avoid having a stroke. You will find it below; enjoy.

This week has been very strange for me. I'm so happy about Obama, but at the same time, I cannot even fathom what happened in CA or AK. Seriously, it’s as if we took two steps forward and one step back.

That's exactly what it is, and that's how history has always been. It just doesn't usually happen in one day; more like one administration makes great strides, then fear gets some asshats elected and rights are rolled back, but not all of them, because what happens at the political level really does influence opinion at the social level. That, and the fact that our generation will inherit the electorate. CA and AR (AK = Alaska, but given its contribution to recent news, it deserves to be tainted by association) voters stripping citizens of existing rights is despicable, but I'm not too worried, because young people tend to be considerably more enlightened on this issue, and ... it's our world now. Our seriously messed up world that our grandkids will be paying the subprime mortgages on, but still. Our time has come.

I am lucky to live in a country that does allow people to marry the people they love, well within reason, and sometimes I have to argue these points with people still.
