Oh, right. We (clearly) survived the G20. In fact, the only protest our area got was the Free Tibet one, and they don't get too rowdy. Nevertheless, the Gamestop was boarded up the whole time. Not the banks... not the Starbucks... Gamestop.

I think it was one of my friends from college who told me that one big reason the manga and the animé are so different is because Sadamoto, unlike Anno, wasn't massively depressed when creating his version.

I really like what I've seen so far -- I like that Kaji has a backstory, that Rei II actually kind of got somewhere with Shinji (that scene was so cute), that Kaoru shows up more (obviously), etc. -- and I just wish he'd get to finishing it up already. How is Sadamoto going to make it end differently now that the JSSDF has begun their invasion? And when's volume 12 coming out?

(In the meantime, I have to content myself with releases of the new Shinji Ikari Raising Project manga...)

That makes sense. And it seems less ... I don't want to say self-inserty. Personal, maybe - overall. Sadamoto talks in his columns about trying to empathize with the characters, which would suggest that they're not direct mouthpieces for his views/issues.

Yeah, I said when I finished that I'm in the same waiting game as the rest of the readers now. I hate it when that happens. I couldn't hold off until the last book came out, could I? ;P
