So... Apparently, a member of LJ staff has commented on the epic thread of hate going on over on news. This so far is the only comment from a (supposed?) member of the LJ team regarding the pingback/crossposting features ( Read more... )

Almost 6000 now. Up by 1500 since I started tracking it a couple of years ago. Apparently that person *really* is staff.

The stupidity -- it burns!

I've commented, I've voted in both polls, I've filed feedback, and I've staked out the name on DreamWidth. This is a Permanent Account, but I do *NOT* want the two (Facebook and LJ) tied together. I mean, I've got friends on both -- but those have been LJ/SCA folks that have found me there. I don't want the generic FB folks finding me here.

Yeahhhhhhh... I'm estranged from my sister because someone tagged me on Facebook with my LJ name. (Well, also because I wouldn't bake her a wedding cake.)

This has the potential to become a case study of how an ill thought out privacy violation can sink a thriving on-line business. Over 95% don't like this feature and feel its a huge privacy concern. You'd think they'd get the hint.
