Can I hug an episode? I love this one, and not just because Kitt has some more-than-usual fantastic lines, and Michael actually picks him up on being jealous (or 'brooding' on Michael's love life), and the plot sort of actually *works* (apart from the vague 'third world leaders' in a tent).
Ah, KITT, honey. I think it's kind of cute how valiantly (one might almost say desperately) he clings to the idea that he doesn't have emotions, even when he clearly does.
'Kitt, honey' - I'm loving that, it totally works ;) And I love that scene with Bonnie, but why doesn't she pick him up on his claim that Michael ditching him doesn't bother him? She's been with him from the beginning, surely she would be more considerate? Still, I suppose that's what fan fiction is for!
And Bonnie looks so much better in season one, with longer, naturally styled hair; she looks like *herself*, not the cast bimbo. The coiffeured do's throughout season three and four are a good commercial for hairspray, but don't suit her.
This really is a hugely fun episode! Though as I was watching it and having a *ball* I wasn't sure *why* it's so much more fun than "Inside Out", because it has several of the same besetting sins--KITT and Michael are apart a lot, Michael tells KITT to shut up a lot, etc. But somehow it all works in this episode and it works delightfully! :D
I did like Michael picking up that KITT's jealous about his love life, but I didn't like the way he handled it--it's like, hmmm...I mean if I had a male friend who was a really close friend and maybe I wanted more between us but he had an active social life ::koff:: that didn't include me in any non-platonic way. I'd be really *cheezed* if I felt like he knew how I felt and was essentially rubbing my face in it. Now maybe Michael's not getting that KITT's jealous--he's picking up that he disapproves (in TDR he says that KITT sounds like his mother) but not figured out *why*. Oh. I can actually totally see that. ::pets KITT:: They need to sort that out. ::nods firmly::
So here's a difference that I noticed between season 1 and 2. And maybe I'm making this up because I haven't watched the episodes in almost a year. But anyway, in season 1 it definitely seems like KITT is very jealous and disapproving of Michael's lady friends. But I'm pretty sure I remember several scenes from season 2 episodes where KITT is actually helping Michael score (like reminding him about dates and not to be late for them and giving him fashion advice and stuff like that - sorry I can't give references or exact examples), and KITT doesn't seem bothered by it at all. I know you haven't really gotten into season 2 yet, but I'll be interested to see if you notice it and if so what you think of it. KITT and Michael do seem a lot closer in season 2, so maybe they've come to some accommodation about Michael's sex life. And if they have (like Michael can play around as long as he comes back to KITT in the end) is KITT really happy about it or does he just feel like he can't reasonably expect more and should be happy with what
( ... )
KITT certainly seems to be *quite* jealous of Michael's ladies and disapproves of the variety of them.
I'll be watching to see if it's different in season 2 when I get there, because it's a fascinating idea. I'm not sure I'll much like KITT helping Michael score, unless I feel like they have to come to some sort of understanding or accommodation. (I do love the idea that Michael comes back home to KITT in the end, no matter what. :D)
It's also interesting to ponder if KITT's really happy with that or just taking what he can get.
I'll keep my eyes open for it. :D
I'm so glad you're enjoying the recaps. :D I have *so* much fun doing them.
Yeah see what you think. Because I sometimes wonder if KITT isn't sort of thinking 'if you can't beat em, join em." Like how I sometimes wonder if women who do a lot of threesomes with their guys and other women really want to have a threesome with their guy and another woman, or are they just doing it because they hope it will help them keep their guy and get him to like her even more because she's all cooperative and into chics too. Like now they're conspirators together in getting him laid instead of he's just cheating on her and doing stuff she doesn't like. Does that make any sense at all?
It does make sense, though...well, I can't imagine being so hooked on a guy that I would do something (especially something *sexual*) that made me uncomfortable or unhappy just to keep him. Which might be why I have two failed marriages. Seriously, that's just totally outside my ken. Not that I'm not aware that it happens. It just...I don't know, makes me sad that the women won't just let the man who's obviously Not Right For Them (if he wants that and they don't) go.
And I'm not sure I can see KITT doing that...I need to think about though. And I'll keep my eye open during season 2 and see what I think. :D
--I am somewhat enjoying the fact, though, that those ignored activities appear to have gotten Michael *wet* and he's there toweling himself off.
You're just "somewhat" enjoying that? lol.
--They wind out being chased and harassed by a sleek little sports car. Devon: "Lose it, any way you can." Michael: "Okay, Devon, but this sure isn't KITT." Eee!
That is so sweet!
When we first see them, two are doing that homoerotic bonding thing that guys do, no sorry we call that "fighting".
hahah! Yes, of course.
--Aw he's cute when he's sleeping. :D
Wow, hells yes, you're totally right!
The two who were *bonding* ::koff:: get their own room which probably cuts down on nocturnal traffic.
All this stuff went right over my head when I was a kid. lol!
--Ah, it was a lock-picking kit. I didn't realize Michael had one of those.
Heh. Nick and Michael both...
--I suspect you'll get tired of me noticing this and being happy about it before I get tired of going Eeeee!! Michael's reading a magazine or something and letting KITT drive! :D
( ... )
Well, I'd've enjoyed it more if he'd done a Nick Ryder and stripped his shirt off (wringing it out into a beer mug on the table is optional, but cute). :D
Michael missing KITT while he was driving the Big Car was *so* cute! And KITT feeling excluded was pretty damned adorable too.
I love these two!!
Glad you enjoyed! I didn't get all the way through the next one last night (curse this body of mine and its wretched need for sleep) but I'll finish it up tonight.

One of my personal favorite moments in Riptide canon, definitely. That boy sure has some nice arms.
