Can you explain "fashion" to me? I mean... who actually wears this stuff? Maybe I just hang out with the wrong crowd, but you never even see the super-rich hollywood set wearing something like this.

Is there some crucial step where they turn the concept into actual clothes that I'm missing?

Also: Margeaux, do your hair like the chick in the first picture. Tres Awesome.

concept translation from runway to real life takes form through relation of the shapes, colors, patterns, cuts, mixing of ideas, etc.

and there are obviously different levels of interpretation. you can see interpretation of runway stuff in cheap stores like forever21, in fact many are pretty much exact ripoffs of stuff that has shown on the runway.

but obviously a city such as new york or LA is going to be much more highly fashion oriented because of the influence of fashion in those cities, especially when compared to the laid back lifestyles led in Tucson, and similar cities. so you may not be seeing things like this (and you'd honestly be hard pressed to see anyone, ever, wearing something from a couture show in real life unless it's a gown or one single piece but rarely an entire outfit) on the streets of tucson, but there is a level of interpretation that translates to the larger masses and that level of interpretation depends on the vibe of the city generally.

The concepts become actual clothing when they decide that they can dupe the masses into living well beyond their means and believing that designer clothing is accessible to anyone with a credit card. When women read Allure, or Vogue, or Elle magazine and are shown photo after photo of $800 Louboutin shoes, $500 Versace cardigans, or $1200 Fendi handbags, the seed of Jones's-keeping-uppage is planted and we become the hysterical, insatiable consumers that movies such as "Confessions of a Shopaholic" depict all women to be ( ... )
