The concepts become actual clothing when they decide that they can dupe the masses into living well beyond their means and believing that designer clothing is accessible to anyone with a credit card. When women read Allure, or Vogue, or Elle magazine and are shown photo after photo of $800 Louboutin shoes, $500 Versace cardigans, or $1200 Fendi handbags, the seed of Jones's-keeping-uppage is planted and we become the hysterical, insatiable consumers that movies such as "Confessions of a Shopaholic" depict all women to be.

Actually, designers recycle ideas of what is high fashion throughout the ages, and create avant-garde renditions of what is later translated into ready-to-wear, then mass-produced to become trends, which are later sold in Spring and Fall fashion lines at your everyday store. So, Dave, people don't actually wear thigh-high boots in everyday life because they are one particular trend that is quite hard to pull off without looking more street-walker than cat-walker (sorry, Margeaux). Really, fashion is simply a way that people, women in particular, feel that they can express themselves to the world. Also, the super-rich Hollywood set is a crowd that is obviously highly visible to the public, and so fame-and-fortune hungry people emulate the street styles that are started by celebrities. This is undoubtedly where Ugg boots and miniskirts came from, and whoever started that trend should be banished.
