Writer's Block: R.E.A.D. in America Day

Sep 27, 2008 07:53

Right now, I'm trying to start Dime Store Magic but I just finished the Twilight series and I keep going back to my favorite parts and re-reading them!  I love reading.  It is my way to escape from reality.  Unfortunately, some books do a better job of escaping than others which leaves me pretty useless until I finish the book and start on another ( Read more... )

I can understand re-reading favorites; it's comforting in a safety blanket kind of way. Really, though, I've read all of the Kelley Armstrong stuff to date, and they are worth the read. Have you read Bitten?

You're writing books!? You really are full of surprises, you know that?
I'd like to read the Twilight books someday, I plan on seeing the movies so, I want to read the books before that.

Chris.

Yes, I write books. Or rather, I START writing books. I have four novels, three children's books and four magazine articles (for both children's magazines and women's magazines) started but not finished. One of these days I will finish them. I started the fourth novel this weekend ... I should probably finish ONE before I start another but I have all these ideas swirling in my head, I just start writing. I actually took a writing course before I started on my master's degree. That was fun.

I got a little too into the Twilight series. It's the perfect love story. I had to write about my own love story to get my head out of the clouds so I could concentrate. They were good books although I am a bit embarrassed to admit I liked them so much seeing as they are for teens and all. Whatever! I read the book before I see the movie too. I know they are never completely the same but I still like to have the story before I walk into the theater.

I have the same problem. Iv'e been starting books for years and can't seem to be able to write more than a few chapters. Hopefully, I'll manage to write a hole book someday, I have so much ideas in my head that I always have to write so I can get them out...
I've always been curious about writing courses, how does that work exactly?

I can explain the writing course that I took and hopefully it is easier to understand than my explanation of the school system here in the States ( ... )

Yes, the Twilight series was good. A little too good actually. BUT - I accomplished something after I finally got my head out of the clouds... hubby and I had a very meaningful talk (definitely needed that) and I started on a new novel. All in all, very productive! I love Harry Potter. Hubby is re-reading them right now. I'm next!
