I was so confused by the Jack/Gwen. I mean, what, Rhys and Owen aren't enough? Where did it come from? Despite the fact that overall I loved the episode, there were a few lines and moments that seemed totally OOC and random. And, I mean, when she thought she was going to die, she was going to leave a message for Jack? Not the boyfriend she loved so much at the end of season 1 that she nearly destroyed the world trying to save him? No, of course not. That would only make sense. Also, Tosh, the embodiment of professionalism commenting on someone's attractiveness in a situation where they all had their guns pointed at him? Ianto was actually adorable in that episode though, that was nice:)
I never understood Gwen in season 1 either. She has some moments but mostly I ignore her. I hope they don't stress this whole Jack/Gwen thing too much in season 2. Well, there's always fandom. *g*
Landry and Tyra are my favorites, too. *misses them* And I was so sad to see Carlotta go, because she and Matt were the CUTEST.
On the whole religion thing: Lyla annoys me greatly, but as someone who lives on the Bible Belt of the south? It adds to how viscerally real the show feels. It doesn't matter so much whether I believe or even like the preachings, I think that the fact that that facet of life is being represented is important in a show about small town life.

They show people going to church and taking part in all the rituals. And rituals, there are many. *g
