Kira's voice actor: Takahiro Sakurai

Recently, I have been encountering Takahiro Sakurai in other animes alot. The most obvious, as in it took me all of five minutes to pick him out since his voice only changed marginally from how he does Kira, was as Agemaki Kei in Otome Yōkai Zakuro. On the other hand, I suffered through multiple episodes of Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru

It's usually exactly the opposite with me - I watch some anime, love a character, check out who the voice actor is, and omg, it's Takahiro Sakurai again XD I fail at recognising voices XDD

But at least those of his anime roles I liked were all cool awesome dudes, like Kanda in D.Gray-Man, or Heine in DOGS, or the Medicine Seller in Mononoke - so his characters share the quality of awesomeness :D

I used to be totally voice actor blind but watching too much Bleach has pretty much lodged the voices into my head for better or worse. ^.^

But sometimes its easier then other other times. For example, I was watching Giant Killing and picked-up on the fact that Renji's voice actor was playing Kuroda in that anime within minutes because not only did Renji and Kuroda sound alike, they had the same mannerism as well!!!

On the other hand, in the same anime, Byakuya's voice actor played a character called Murakoshi but I never got even the slightest inkling that they were on and the same until I looked-up the voice actor for Murakoshi while putting together a wiki page. The voices of the characters just sounded too different!

Lol, Renji's voice actor was Kuroda? XD I totally thought that Ikkaku's voice actor would be Kuroda, probably because they are both bald XD

I had no idea about that, either O_O But the personalities of the characters are actually kind of similar...

He also does Cloud's voice from Final Fantasy, another depressed awesome dude.

Oh! Didn't realise that! I'll have to rewatch Advent Children just to hear Cloud speak now!

He's Yuuri in Kyou Kara Maou! too (and Morgif too, I think). With Konishi Katsuyuki (Hisagi Shuuhei) as his older brother. And, of course, Wabisuke in the zanpakuto-filler. But the thing I laughed the most at? He is the dub voice of Edward Cullen in the japanese dub of Twilight. It almost makes the movie worth watching.

And yes, when I found out he was Edward's dub voice, a part of me died but another part of me couldn't stop laughing! The casting agency sure got it right in picking Sakurai-san to play this year's (supposed) 'sexiest' character XDDDD

Yeah, I was reading through a list of his roles, saw Edward, did a doubled-take, burst out laughing and then told all my friends, even though they don't care. XD

So long as you can make pencil touch paper, you can draw! 8D (or pen, or paint, or tablet nib to tablet etc. You get the idea XD) And don't worry, you can happily participate in discussions like this and you are as much a member as any one else!

Hahaha, you should actually find a scene on youtube, it's really quite funny to watch! It did make me go "Noo!!! That voice--ahh, I love it so much, but this is Edward Cullen- but - ahh!" *implodes* xDDD

If Sakurai-san does a voice in an anime these days, it takes about 2 seconds for me to go "SAKURAI-SAN?!?!"- but of course that was after about 6 months of enduring what you described and wondering why the voice was so familiar, haha!

Sakurai-san definitely gets a large variety of characters, as I've heard him play the most masochistic uke (Junjo Romantica) to a sweet but still intimidating seme (Gakuen Heaven). His role as Suzaku in Code Geass was great because in season 1 he was friendly and kind, but season 2 showed him to be dark, cold and very aggressive.

Kisuke's VA did Creed from Black Cat- crazy x 9000! And not funny, weird crazy like Kisuke, like if Aizen's evil were added to Kurotsuchi's crazy, stirred together and then poured on top of Zaraki's lust to kill.

I guess I have just been encountering Kisuke's VA in similar type of rules like Kurz Weber in Full Metal Panic and Tachibana Giō in Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru. So it kind of feels like he just gets the same type of roles.

I don't watch BL anime that much, but after knowing Sakurai san voices a uke in a yaoi anime I went to YT and watched a couple of episodes and all I can think about is a uke!Kira~~XD But really the Kira in my head is much more masochistic than Misaki~

Anyone here watches Hetalia? Chad's VA also does Germany and it totally fits XD~

Yeah! Actually, many people in Hetalia shares their VA with people from Bleach. We have Ulquiorra as both Italies, Shinji as France, Hitsugaya as Switzerland, Nemu/Karin as Liechtenstein, Shuuhei/Keigo as America and Canada... OK, I'm officially seiyuu-obsessed. XD

Also just to add that he voices Misaki, the leading character in Junjou Romantia - a Yaoi series (btw an amazing fluffy series!) along side renji's voice actor.
