"I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's Parker ...she likes money and cereal." I'd love it if everyone who' ( Read more... )

Unlike most people, I can say without hesitation what my favorite song is; it's Flesh Mechanic by Placebo.

I don't think I'm familiar with that song! But I'll check it out on your recommendation. :D

I can't ever choose a favorite song because my musical tastes come and go in fads. I will listen to something endlessly for a month, and then get sick of it and move on to something else. Hell, I don't think I could even pick a favorite artist/group if I had to. I admire your certainty! *grin*

I think the song might only be even listenable to Placebo fans. It's pretty low recording quality and it's Brian Molko at his most nasally, but I just LOVE it! It was on their first demo when they were still known as Ashtray Heart.

I once sang backup in an Elton John cover band.

That is super awesome. :D I can't sing to save my life. I wanted to join the choir in elementary school, but I was home sick with pneumonia during try-outs and so I missed my chance. Now I just sing when the radio is turned up loud enough that I can't hear myself, no matter how loud I belt it out.

My favourite flavour of potato chips are salt and vinegar.

I've had some salt-and-vinegar chips that were delicious! But I'm leery of them, in general, because I'm very sensitive to sourness and they too often are way too sour for me.

My favorite chips are Buffalo Bleu. Holy yum.

I totally do like money and cereal. I start my first real full-time job in one week. I find children and animals adorable and hilarious but there is a mutual, total lack of understanding between us, probably because children and animals have preternatural senses and can tell I'm secretly a robot.

If you could relive any moment/day/time of your life, what would it be?

Who doesn't like money and cereal? :D Children and animals totally do have preternatural senses. YAY for new jobs! What are you doing?

Ooh, that's a good one! Are we talking relive-so-I-can-do-things-differently or relive-because-it-was-awesome? For the first, um... Probably that day last September when my car got backed into in a parking structure, because that has caused me some serious grief and if I just left a minute earlier or a minute later I'd have been golden.

For the former... I think I'd relive the day I got to go see Wicked in San Francisco for my birthday, because I love musicals and live theater, but I hate that it's not an experience you can easily (or cheaply) repeat, the way that you can with movies and TV.

I'm doing technical writing, which is a vague way of saying "I write help docs and manuals for software!" It's a mixture of a lot of super boringness and a lot of learning interesting shit about software. Have to say, it's a relief to be putting my English degree to work!

Oops, I didn't even think of the alternative interpretations, haha. I was thinking relive-because-it-was-awesome because positivity yay! Seriously, that parking structure doesn't sound fun. Damn. Wicked DOES sound fun! Just gonna say, though, STILL wildly confused that Elphaba and Glinda don't get together. "What is this feeling?" GAY. GAY IS THE FEELING.

And I so agree with the easily repeat thing. I know part of the magic of theater is that every performance is one of a kind, but there is something about being able to relive everything about a movie or episode I love over and over that appeals to my obsessive fangirl side!

Coolness! I always thought that could be a cool way of writing professional, but never really figured out a way to get a foot in the door.

Uggh, it was awful. She backed into me, then told her boyfriend (whose car she was driving) that I sideswiped her. >_< Thank goodness I got pictures, but really, dealing with insurance and busted cars is never fun.

Yeah, it's definitely kind of a bummer! Especially for someone who is (1) broke, and (2) not in New York. There are so many musicals and I can't see any of them! D: Whyyyy don't they film them more often? Ugh. It's part of the reason I was so excited when I found out they were making Les Mis into a movie! I love the soundtrack, but my only exposure to it had been the 10th Anniversary Concert DVDs, and that skips large sections of the story and assumes you know it.

Actually, that happens with a lot of the musicals I love. I fall for their soundtracks, but end up with only really a piecemeal understanding of the story. Sucky!

I still love to read, but I was an avid reader when I was a kid. I used to sleep with books under my pillow.

Me too! I used to wake up with my cheeks plastered to the books' pages because I'd read until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

I also had a teacher write in my report card, "May the authors of the world keep up with you," and a classmate sign my yearbook, "My goal is to one day read more books than you."

What was/is your favorite book? :)

:) I definitely remember that happening to me, too. Either I'd fall asleep with my face in the book, or the book would fall to the floor.

That was really cool what your teacher wrote in your report card. I remember one of my, I think it was eight grade, teachers had a huge book collection and I'd be one of the only one reading the books. I don't think she let people keep the books overnight, but she would let me because I wa reading so much.

I don't think I really have a current favorite book of all-time. When I was younger, I adored the Ramona Quimby series. I squealed so loud a couple of years ago when I found out there would be a Ramona movie. When I was in middle school, I loved Christopher Pike books. I think the book I've liked the most, that I've read recently is The Serial Killer's Club.

I got busted a number of times sneak-reading my mom's romance novels, because she came in to wake me up for school and I'd fallen asleep on top of it. XD

Aww, that's awesome! I love teachers who support readers.

Ooh, I hadn't heard of that book, but it looks interesting! :D
