There's not much to read by Adelman, since he died, but he is awesome. Excellent balance of Israeli writing - not too aducated, not too much street language. I loved it. Most of his stories are about the same concept, but he's great.
I can't seem to find any really good Israeli authors who write in those genres. It's mostly translated stuff That's actually the publishers' preference. Sci-fi and fantasy have a relatively small audience here, and it's too big a risk. When translating something, they figure if it sold abroad, it'll sell here. Most of the people I know who read these stories give up and import them themseleves in English.
On the other hand, in the past 10 years there are a LOT more Israeli sci-fi and fantasy writers, but I've moved on from those stories.
