I have to at least see it clearly in my mind. you know, that's what I love about great writers because sometimes the description falls flat because the writer obviously couldn't picture it in their head
Either that, or they give too many details. I read the Wizard's First Rule series (at least half way...), and there's a part where he goes on for nearly 30 pages, describing a desert. (!!!\0/) I kinda felt like back in school, where we had to read Aba Gurio, and the man is dying for 50 pages. By page 7 I was praying he'd just die already. lol
