I have been procrastinating and procrastinating about taking dow the Xmas tree. it has been a few days since I switched the lights on last but tonight I finally got out the loppers and made the awful mess that is bagging the thing up for my parents' woodchipper to digest. I read it so long ago that I can't remember (and, no, I don't own it).

Blyton in good condition goes for quite significant money secondhand, I'm told :-S

Before you dismiss Blyton, try The Naughtiest Girl sequence: Blyton goes to a Progressive Boarding School.

What Blyton books are worth reading these days? I remember reading a few of her "Famous Five" books here in Canada, but none of the details of the 2-3 books I read seem to stick in my memory.

P.S. We finally pulled down our tree only on Sunday, too.

IMHO not many are worth reading and I am only avoiding the sweeping generalisation because I have not read all Blyton and do not intend to either. I have had a couple of recommendations for books of hers that suck less and modern Noddy books are all re-edited to be less offensive so they don't count. I shelled out cash for Five Go to Mystery Moor because of racist issues but the fact that I will have to reread it is not appealing right now, especially when the rest of the material we will belooking at this course is so much fun.

PS Would it be possible for you to Friend me back so I can comment on your blog. Pretty please. I may not talk about it much here but I am a gamer too.

Good day, eh!

In some ways, your comments are reassuring. I'd hate to think that I was missing some great chunk of children's lit!

P.S. I've since 'friended' (hmm...is that even a word?) but I didn't think that my posts were locked off to furriner's!

Whenever I tried to comment since Christmas I got a message saying you had turned on the option that only allowed 'Friends' to post comments. Perhaps you can check that out while joining the mass movement to turn off the nudge option?
