Just yesterday I had, for the first time, to yell at my DD to turn the music down (lower volumes had not penetrated the din) and she got to 'mishear' for the first time and make it even louder. She's what? 6? hoo boy!

That sounds like a full 50% off the "teenage" deal you've got there. Some sort of deal with Tesco? They don't do returns, do they...?
And you say your being knackered is inexplicable? On the theory that "the first 30 years are the worst", I'd say you have a ready-made explanation for the next 24 (not even counting BB)!
