Belated gratitude

My conscience has been pricked and I must tell the whole interwebs of the kindness of daftnewt who, hearing of my addiction to tea-earl-grey-hot!, sent me a lovely box of sample teas - all in neat, teeny, shiny metal cannisters too! - all the way from Canada. I may even manage to persuade Mr wol to try the Green Earl Grey Tea as he isn't usually big on the ( Read more... )

Oh! I love that book! I've been meaning to re-read it, but I think it's going to have to wait until I get through a few of the unread ones.

Did you ever read her Damiano series? I think they would be right up your street, although TWTBD is far and away the best thing she ever wrote imho.

Oh, yes. I bought the book that had all three in it after I'd read TWTBD and The Grey Horse. I just loved her writing so much. It's been such a long time since I read it, though, I don't remember much.

OH,I love Earl Grey tea, it's my favourite. I think it's also cool that it's Jean-Luc Picard's favourite too. (Make it so, indeed!). But it always bothered me that he took it with lemon, no milk. Sometimes when I order it in a restaurant, they make the same mistake.

Now, call me crazy, but Earl Grey is BLACK TEA with bergamot, not herbal tea. As such, I think it's best served up with milk and sugar.

Don't get me started on being a tea drinker in predominantly coffee-oriented North America. I usually have to search far and wide to find a good cup of tea. I once had a real English tea in Devonshire (clotted cream and all), and I can tell you, it was a religious experience.

Green tea isn't a herbal tea ;-)

TWTBD I loved.

Usually Earl Grey is black tea. I am assuming that the green Earl Grey tea is just green tea flavoured with bergamot. However a lot of people take their black tea with lemon. I used to when I was a teenager and mad for all things sour tasting and still would if the choice was lemon or cream in the true Upper Crust style - I HATE tea with cream; it's just too heavy tasting. I am currently addicted to Twinings decaff Earl Grey as it has a wonderful hit of bergamot and I can drink as many cups as I wish without feeling the caffeine nausea. *slurps*

Could not bear sugar in Earl Grey though. Brrrrrrr! Herbals teas I do not take with lemon, but with HONEY!!!!!! Very not slimming!

Clotted cream is a religious experience and a strong argument for the existence of a benevolent deity but then it would want to be seeing as how much each mouthful brings one closer to a the afterlife.

Very heavy sadly. Although if we are not careful we might be sent a kit and so our lives will fill up with more junk as demijohns bubble away under the kitchen counter.

Hee hee. Well, if you want to help with the postage...

The wine kits are bloody heavy, as I can attest having heaved a couple-three dozen of them around today. Might be better to send you carefully packed filled bottles ;)

You're welcome! I hope your head is all cleared up, and do let me know what you think of the different blends. I haven't tried the Green Earl Grey; I had a pot of the Russian after work today.

I have read Tea With The Black Dragon, many years ago. I remember enjoying it, but that's all! Clearly time for a reread...
