Step Back from Six Apart on 06/06/06

May 31, 2006 21:20

My gargantuan FList may have noticed a certain focus on the breastfeeding controversy at LJ in some recent posts. What we want to happen was outlined in my earlier post at http://sammywol.livejournal.com/103420.html?mode=reply In support of a protest about this issue I am going to delete my journal at noon on Monday 5th June (the beginning of Tuesday 6/6/6) and undelete it noon Wednesday 7th June (the end of Tuesday 6/6/6). I hope as many of you as can will join me in doing this.

Why I'm doing this

I want SixApart to:
1. Change FAQ 111 back to what it was before 20th May (see http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=111 for the new wording);
2. Make clear that SixApart supports breastfeeding;
3. Unsuspend accounts that should never have been suspended (further details, see http://www.greatestjournal.com/community/bfistd/416.html )

More background information about the breastfeeding controversy can be found at http://www.greatestjournal.com/community/bfistd/836.html If you value either the principles of good customer service or the idea of breastfeeding as the best option for a child then you should really take the time to follow up some of these links.

So far Six Apart's response has been to offer to compromise by letting the current status quo stand. That is not good enough. The issue is not going away. However, if only for a day, some of Six Apart's customers are.

breastfeeding, lj
