Had one of those dreams last night where you wake up and just think 'Oh Thank GOD!' I am not very rested but after being up for five hours or so the knowledge that I will not actually have to sort out any of the tangled layers of confusion and mess in that dream still gives me a pleasantly peaceful feeling. Not a nightmare exactly so much as a logistical game of Buckaroo! that my head was amusing itself with.
Slipped out very early to do the shopping - bless that 24 hour supermarket! - as it is a Bank Holiday this weekend and Irish people have a tendency to shop before a Bank Holiday the way other people shop before a Hurricane. Arrived back to find DD on the potty and demonstrating a wonderful new level of empathic development
Having done a big long poo and a little skinny poo she had remarked to her father that they looked like a Mummy and a Baby snake. He admired the analogy but cautioned her against saying as much to Mama who is quite freaked out enough over imaginary serpents thankyou. When I arrived she earnestly asked me if I liked worms. On being told that I did not mind them at all she then told me the same story only with a Mummy and a Baby worm instead of the offending Ophidians and was careful not to mention the 's' word at any point. Little darling is learning! It was her Dada who supplied the background, and glad I was to have it really, in spite of snakey issues. DD has started at Montessori this last week and it has left her and us exhausted. She likes the format much better, as predicted, but is finding it a lot more tiring. They had a fashion show yesterday where all the kids brought their favourite outfits in to wear and did a little catwalk thing (which was every bit as shambolic as you might think, including Spiderman's pratfall off the catwalk) and while she was not one of the shrinking violets who refused to join in at the last moment and was the bravest of the three littlies and managed very happily during the show she broke down into exhausted hysterics shortly afterwards. This of course led to unscheduled nappage and in turn led to not actually going to sleep sleep until nearly ten pm. Deep breaths all round!
