Title: The Power Manifested
Characters: Sam
Rating: T
Spoilers: season 4 and 8 maybe? (Sam's blood addiction and possession)
Prompt: “mostly harmless” by kinkajou
I was tagged for the art challenge and my prompt was 'mostly harmless.' I had to really think about this one and I had some ideas like this Sam and Dean coming across this cute doggy that looks harmless, but turns into this man-eating canine. Then I switched the words around and thought 'harmless...mostly.'
So I thought, who more to do than Sam himself. When we come across Sam we think he's pretty harmless, right? But just underneath the surface, he isn't so harmless. Throughout the journey of Supernatural, he has grown out of the boy of innocence into a man of power. Sam holds so much power, that all he really has to do is lift his finger to destroy you. But he most often chooses not to. Sam would rather be harmless. So keeps his powers at bay and chooses not to use it.

Okay so...Who do you think is harmless?
Explanation:
I really wanted to do a normal Sam vs a powerful Sam that slinks underneath the surface. So we have Sam and demon Sam obviously. Normal Sam hides the angels and soulless Sam underneath as well. The skulls are the result of Sam's power and the ram skull can be interpreted of more death or devil himself, since he was involved with Sam. Now the bird at the top is knows as a Lammergeier, or bearded vulture. I used them in a previous project and fell for these pretty killers. So although they beautiful creatures, they can tear meat and bone apart. So I thought it would be fitting to pair the vulture with Sam's harmless, yet not so harmless nature (especially with his soulless self). We also know that Sam was possessed by not one but 2 angels. and the blue represents his potential grace, same with the halo behind the vulture. (I couldn't find a large enough circle template to cover Sam's head). I think that's it for now. That was a hectic 24 hours, but it was so worth it.

Sorry, these images don't do the actuall drawing justice. I drew this in my large molskine and spans over 2 pages. That's 10x15 inches. Holy moly! What was I thinking?? Who knows, but I'm so proud of this image. References used for Sam/Jared. Skulls and vulture can be googled. I might fix my closeups.
