Yesterday was a bit of a mess in terms of scheduling, so I was already harried and in a mood to be annoyed when I got a letter from the English dept telling me that I had been selected to TA for "Classic SF and Fantasy" next year, taught by a nice Medievalist who used to teach this course regularly. man, every time I tag something with the "discussion" tag, it's like the kiss of death.

of course, after reading your responses, I realize that this might make a better phone call than a post/response discussion.

still, for me, self-motivation is a very important issue in regards to happiness, and is at the heart of the second question, which for me, could be rephrased as "if you know what might make you more happy, why aren't you doing it?" (or alternately, "when you see that something isn't working out, shouldn't you do something about it?") but I'm curious what you mean by "self-motivated."

p.s. how long are you down there?

1. Yes. Oddly so, considering.
