Things seem to have gone downhill slightly concerning the upcoming vacancy at our academy. After the first round of calls it looked like we were going to hire the American with three years' experience. Since starting my classes at the Seoul Korean Language Academy the amount of time I have available for blogging has dropped considerably. My class starts at ten o'clock in the morning, which means leaving my apartment in Uijeongbu by 8:45am in order to take the subway into Seoul. In addition to the four applicants mentioned in my previous entry, we received another promising resume yesterday afternoon. This latest individual has spent the last three years working for the same academy in Korea and recently bought an apartment in 의정부 to share with his girlfriend / soon-to-be wife. The 교포 teacher is leaving our academy at the start of next month, which means finding a replacement teacher from one of the seven countries that the Korean government recognizes as eligible for the E-2 teaching visa. We frequently have parents stop by our academy to get a tour and speak with the academy director prior to having their child take a placement test and signing up for classes.
