On Vox: Imperial Palace & Kyoto

Our last day in Tokyo was the only clear day. It made us realize how much the cloud cover had kept the heat off!

We started the day off with a tour of the Imperial Palace. We got the permit ahead of time, and were surprised to see that of a couple hundred folks on the tour we were virtually the only non-Asians there. I guess most tourists either ( Read more... )

I loved the ritual of airing out, beating, and rolling up my futon daily. I had a lot of time on my hands in Japan. I also really liked biking. I've never felt safer, since everyone driving knows that their grandma is biking to the grocery store somewhere on her basket bike.

I'm continually impressed at how safe it feels here! There are plenty of places I would never consider riding a bike (much less park it without a lock!)
