I gather that Sam's older? Maybe by a year, but obviously it's not canonically referenced yet. Sam is going to school online, that we know...and I'm not entirely sure Sam is the type to go to online college (or any college) so I'd wager she's probably a senior. With Victorious, there's 4 seasons, and if there's, say, a year for every two seasons, Cat would have to be at least a junior (assuming that in s1 they're freshmen.)
Sam seems more mature. Yeah, I guess it isn't necessarily super important or anything, but it would be helpful to know for sure what the deal is, at least for fic-writers (like me).
I had high expectations for this show and I haven't been disappointed! I actually like Victorious and iCarly both, although I kind of lost interest in iCarly toward the end when it became more about the romance stuff. I only really watched that show for Sam. Victorious was great, Cat is one of my favorite characters, so I was pumped when I heard about this show. I love the actresses and they have CRAZY chemistry! I really like Dan Schneider, I've loved pretty much all of his shows, considering I grew up on Kenan & Kel...he has a quirky sense of humor that I enjoy and he knows about the shipper fans, even those who ship lesbian pairings. I think he does the subtext on purpose to drive us bonkers. As for the specific episodes, I liked the second one more because there's more of an established relationship, and I found the concept of the cancelled show relatable, etc. So many shipper moments, though! I'm probably going to have to do some fic, and lots of it. The dynamic between them is just delightful and I can't stop smiling whenever I

you're honestly one of the first people i've seen that was looking forward to this, haha! i think that's great, though; when i heard about it, i had resigned myself to not watching it at all because i thought it would be stupid. i'm pleased to say i was pleasantly surprised with sam and cat's dynamic!
i also liked the second episode better; i actually watched that one before the pilot and found the show cancellation plot to be mildly entertaining. particularly the "why would they cancel that show? it was a big hit!" line. anyways, i did end up smiling through most of the show, and, honestly, sam and cat are very, very shippable. i'm hoping dan can keep the pleasant, easygoing nature of this show going. i'd hate to see it turn into a huge drama-fest like icarly did.
Yeah, I agree with you; the drama is kind of why I stopped watching iCarly. As dumb as it may seem, I have other drama shows to fill my quota. I watch shows like this for light-hearted humor and fun, nothing else. I have such a weird, wide arrange of show tastes, but I digress. I think as things progress they will (hopefully) get better from here...they had a strong beginning and people seem to like it (those who aren't bitter, anyway). Jennette & Ariana are both very talented comedically and make a fun duo. I know all too well the hijinks they're bound to get themselves into. Is it just me, or is this show mildly more realistic than Victorious or iCarly? Both of those shows revolve around the idea of being famous or wanting to be famous, so it's nice to see something more normal. Obviously the whole teenagers living together without an adult present thing isn't so realistic, but Schneider sure loves to write off the adults as much as possible..
yeah, same here. i got really tired of the whole seddie vs. creddie debate; it was just very tiring, tbh. i think i like sam & cat because it does seem to be more light-hearted than dan's more recent stuff? i always felt that with victorious, especially, there was a lingering, dark back story to everyone. sam & cat seems much less serious, which is nice.
i do think that the realistic nature of sam & cat is a breath of fresh air, actually. it's nice to finally see dan getting back to more relatable stuff. victorious and icarly were fun shows, definitely, but the aspect of fame kind of took realness away from the show as whole.
also, i wouldn't say that two teenagers living together without supervision is completely unrealistic, since that's pretty much the gist of dormitories, aha, but if we aren't sure of their ages, then i guess i can see that being somewhat impossible. i'm thinking that sam is taking online college courses (though that might be out of character for her...) and cat is probably in her senior year. i think they

I feel like I should probably introduce myself. I'm Dylan, I frequent tumblr, I just recently remade an LJ (I used to use it a ton before tumblr, I was a member of demi_selena, lol) I saw a post about this community, I think it was in the Sam & Cat tag. But yeah, I'm 23, so a little older than the intended demographic for the show. I'm an ftm transgender dude, too, it should probably be mentioned because I'm sure most will assume I'm female.
I'll definitely reblog that ad or whatever you want to call it for this comm on tumblr tomorrow; I'm already getting some of my followers interested in the show. Nice to meet you, too, I hope it's okay I followed you on tumblr. I use that more, but that may change. I think Schneider's writing & humor brings older folks into his shows a little more than most other similarly targeted Nick & Disney shows...
!!!! oh, wow, thank you! you're super sweet, aahhh! it's definitely alright -- followed you back! and i definitely agree with you about dan's writing; some of his jokes are definitely intended for a slightly older audience. i like the wittiness of his jokes, though i sometimes wonder how he gets away with them.
I actually haven't seen the second episode yet, but I really loved the pilot! I'm loving the Sam/Cat moments. And is it just me or is Jennette McCurdy totally hot on that motorcycle?!
love it! Sam and Cat is even become better that i expected. The final scene from the pilot is so cute, and they have such a beautiful chemistry. Puckentine fit really well, and in the episode 2 was so nice see Sam trying to do Cat happy..their scene was so sweet. i really think that the show has great potential, they do a amazing combo and everytime they are together on screen makes me smile. love Puckentine!
p.s: I love Icarly and Victorious. awesome shows. btw, from Icarly i ship Cam, and from Victorious, Jori. <3 miss them.
it's definitely an adorable little show! the girls really do have amazing chemistry; i was honestly not expecting much when i first watched it, but i'm really glad i gave it a chance. puckentine is quickly becoming one of my otps! so glad to have another member on board. :)
