So, uh, bit of a question.

Well, an idea, I suppose.  About Inception.  On the third level (in the snow), Cobb got Ariadne to tell him about the shortcut through the maze.  And that's how Mal dropped out of the ceiling to shoot Fischer, right?  And Ariadne hesitated before telling Cobb because she was concerned that something like that might happen.  So what if they had ( Read more... )

The only slash I was able to find was a rapefic on 4chan. I could post it here, but be warned, it's not the best quality and contains heavy noncon/minor blood. I'm not the author and it was written anonymously; does anybody want it?

It's halfway down the thread.

Ffffffffffffff......And I have always been more of a Quaritch/Selfridge type...

It's... the thought that counts. salvamisandwich September 5 2010, 21:10:22 UTC
Wow, yeah, terrible. It's unnerving because even though I deliberately only skimmed it, Quaritch's voice is distinctive enough (or the phrasing for his lines in this was well enough thought-out? Ehhh...) that I can kind of hear him saying some of it.

Oh, goodness, Giovanni Ribisi!... yeah, no, I understand totally. Though I can't imagine there's much of that, either.

That's what I was wondering too, actually. Why did Cobb have to be the middle man? O.O

...darnit, plothole.

Yep... when I watched it again after noticing this, I felt kind of agitated during that scene. Like, "You're right, you shouldn't tell him! No, don't!"

Okay. So either Cobb can't think too well under pressure, or he's got a self-destructive thing, or...or IDK, maybe...No. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

*facepalm* We need an AU.

Just thought you might appreciate an update ;)

I had to re-read the whole script and watch the film several times for my two Inception AUs. Anyway, I think the problem wasn't so much Ariadne telling Cobb about the duct system (although it might have been). It might have been Cobb having line of sight to the duct/the area that Fischer and Saito pop out of, because the script actually has Cobb asking only generally for shortcuts - he gets Ariadne to tell Saito the specifics.

Technically, throughout the movie, that's been his line of defense. He can *know* something exists, but he can't know the specifics/details. My suspicion is the problem came when Cobb had line of sight to Fischer since he was the sniper covering them. Just an alternative which might explain the seeming plot hole somewhat.

Ooooh, I always do. My mind needs a little rest at the moment, and your words are like a soothing balm! Okay, that sounds a little... off.

That makes much more sense! If he knew the details, Mal would be on them quicker than a cat, but since he doesn't, Mal has to puzzle her way through them like all the other projections!

Of course, since she's his projection of Mal, and devastatingly, gorgeously badass (I always think of the specific projections having little projection brains, with as much knowledge in them as the dreamer thinks they have, as long as it's knowledge that said dreamer has, as well), she manages to find them where other projections might not. Also the fact that Cobb can never stop thinking about her...

Heh, fandom will collectively fill all of the plot holes, someday. I'm waiting for a good explanation as to why Fischer didn't recognize Saito (he was distracted because his daddy was dead?).

Fischer didn't recognize Saito

This puzzles me too. Not to mention Cobb saying loudly in front of Fischer, "Eames, you're the dreamer."

Hmm. Yes. That too ;)

Either that or Nolan will. The video game thing is still depressing me.
