I haven't cracked the code on why people post or why they stop.  Why for some the prospect of their friends reading their posts is all they need to keep going -- and why for others it induces a death chill.

Just last week, Puerto del Sol (a lit mag out of New Mexico State Uni) offered to have me do one of their author interviews for their blog.  ( Read more... )

Do you have a story in Puerto del Sol? Congratulations! Is it one of the ones that's linked on their website? I went and looked, but I don't actually know your name so it was no help! (And you don't have to tell me your name if you don't want to--I'll understand.)

As for LJ and blogs and things--yeah. I've never included a link to my LJ in any sort of author bio or contributor's notes or anything. Too much of it is friends-locked to be useful for that purpose anyway, but I also feel like I prefer this just being a private space where I can talk to people without feeling like I need to assume some sort of public persona.

One of my writer friends just made herself a fantastic website. It's very simple: no blog, not a lot of personal info, just a list of her publications and events like readings and things... Maybe I need something like that.

I think that's a good idea. I think we should probably all do that, just to have something to build on. If you think of it (I know you're busy right now), will you send me the link to your friend's site some time?
