The child-like smile that had been on Mukuro's turned into a slight smirk as he pocketed his L337Pod and getting up from his seat.

Once upon a time, he had been that innocent too, but now he wasn't any more after what his family had done to him. However, he was remembering what it was like to be naive. After all, despite his seven years, Mukuro probably had experienced a lot more things compared to the other kids on the island. It'd only been two years since he had killed his family and left the labs with the others.

But now wasn't the time to think about things like that. He had the chance to be somewhat innocent again, for however short a time it would be. Since the mafia was no where near here, he didn't have to play his "games" on the members of his new family. He could actually be a kid ( ... )

For a second he almost thought it was Ichiru, but the "kun" at the end of his name was not how his brother addressed him. There were no honorifics between them.

He turned around, silver eyes spotting the younger boy. "Mukuro-kun...?" he said as the energetic boy ran up to him. "Thank you for coming... for helping me."

When Mukuro reached Zero, he took a moment to catch his breath, a "It's okay!" coming out in between pants. It'd been a while since he had ran like that, so it took a lot more out of him than he thought. Taking a deep breath and letting it go slowly, he stood up from his crouched position and smiled up at the taller boy. "Like I said, I'm glad that I can help Zero-kun out."

A small part of him wondered what the silver haired boy could do in case they ran into trouble, but figured he would find out if and or when the time actually came. And if it really came down to it, he could use his own power to cast an illusion so that they could get away. The major downside to that though was that he would be too tired to even stand. That was why he was always sleeping the day after playing his "game". But again, he'd only do it if it was really needed.

"Anyway, we should start before it gets dark." On impulse, Mukuro grabbed Zero's hand and gently tugged at the older boy. "Let's go!"

He blinked in mild surprise, cheeks coloring a bit as he stared at the hand holding his own for a moment, the familiar gesture catching him off guard. The shorter boy really did act like Ichiru. However, he didn't have time to say anything before he was pulled forward and they hurried to the Forest. With his free hand, he pulled out the communication device, his eyes scanning the instructions he had already pulled up before Mukuro arrived. They made good timing as they jogged to the Forest, and by the time they arrived Zero was barely out of breath. Yagari-sensei had given him harder tasks for his training. Also, having one of the strongest Vampire Hunter lineages running through his veins did a lot to make him physically capable.

It seemed that all they had been doing since meeting up was run, but now it was the only choice they had. Better to run and live another day rather than be eaten and die. The former was the obvious option to take. And so they ran, ran until they managed to get past the edge of the forest and closer to the town but not quite making it there.

Mukuro had done his best to keep up with the older boy and had managed well until they got out of the forest. However, only a few feet past the edge of the forest, he tripped and fell to the ground, breathing harshly. And it was seconds later after that he released the illusion he had placed on the monster, the character in his eye changing back to six. He lied there, doubting he'd be ablet to get up again and already feeling exhaustion taking over from using his power so much. It was only a matter of time before he would pass out, sleeping until his body recovered from the usage.

They had made it. They were out of the forest and now the town was only a bit away. After encountering that creature Zero wasn't planning on lingering at the edge of the Forest for long, but as they continued to move, Mukuro fell on the ground. Zero was immediately at his side. "Are you okay?" he asked him as he rolled him over a bit his hand brushing away the dirt on his face. The young silver haired boy watched his companion with melancholy. He looked just like Ichiru did when his brother decided to try and do more than his body would permit. Ichiru would sometimes pass out at those times.

"Thank you for you help. We wouldn't have been able to get out of there if it wasn't for you," he praised the boy. "You've done your part, now let me help you," he shifted a bit so his back was to Mukuro. "Grab onto me, I'll carry you back."

Tired eyes glanced over at Zero and with sluggish movements, Mukuro managed to get up and get on the older boy's back. They both shifted around until they were in a comfortable position with Mukuro wrapping his arms weakly around the other to prevent himself from falling. Whether he trusted the boy or not, Zero was the only way he would be able to get to relative safety.

"Thank you Zero-kun," he said quietly, in an almost whisper. He relaxed, letting the other take them wherever Zero had in mind to go. "You're... not going to ask?"

"... if you would like to tell me, I'd like to know how you... did what you did, but if you want to keep that to yourself, I can respect that... we all have something we rather keep to ourselves."
