"I do..." his eyes narrowed at the constant lies but then his shoulders just sagged. No. No he couldn't really call them lies. Broken promises yes, but it wasn't like Soubi would have left him willingly. Youji would have taken Ritsuka with him if he could. Or... that's what Ritsuka liked to tell himself. But the island made him stay here.

"When they're dead in their own world... when they leave it hurts more," he said thinking of Ichiru.

Ritsuka wasn't so sure he believed it. He had little evidence indicating he would get to go home. Hoping sort of made it... harder.

"If you got the choice to stay here with your friends or get to go home, which one would you choose?" he asked as he gazed over to Lelouch, taking the tea the older boy had made for him. It seemed important, knowing what Lelouch would want.

"I would go home... even... if it meant forgetting." That terrified him more than anything. He had been on Salkia for a year. Another year wiped from his mind. Another part of him forgotten. Lelouch, Ichiru, Mukuro, Suzaku, dying, so many things he'd forget. His ears pressed against his head. He didn't want to forget. But he hadn't seen anyone really remember when they left and came back.

"I'm sorry."
