Dealing with the wickedest witch in the west. Argggggggggggggggggggggggh!

So let me start by saying, despite the fact I'm pregnant and considered high risk because of my miscarriage history, I have not reduced the amount of work I do.  I have, spread out the work, instead of doing it all at once so instead of having days where I'm super stressed out ( Read more... )

Stand up for yourself, darling. akinarei June 28 2012, 18:09:13 UTC
You know-- you do have a right to tell her 'no.' I'm not savvy on what goes on in your place of work, but to me it sounds like she's an incompetent whiner and you do have the right to say no. You should offer her some cheese next time to go with that massive whine.

Next time, tell her no and leave it at that. Don't offer her any explanations, because frankly, you don't owe her any. You've made your decision and if she can't follow through on her job, I'm sure she's more than able to quit.

Also, isn't there someone higher up than your boss that you can talk to? A Human Resources Manager or something?

Actually the reason for her whine was because I did stand up for myself and tell her no. She doesn't like to hear that word. Well sad for her, because I'm finally putting my foot down and she's just going to have to like it ( ... )

Next time, give her some cheese and take a picture. ^_^

Even if she's very high up on that food chain, there must be an HR manager that you can speak to.

Try recording what she says, too, that way it's not just her word against yours, it's a recording against her. If you have an iPhone, it should have a voice memo recording function. Put the recorder on, mute the sounds, and then press the button to put the phone on stand-by-- it'll still record; I have proof of that by accident, believe it or not. Another phone... I'm not so sure. Either way. Same thing with your boss. Record that conversation, too. Another insurance policy, if you will.

You can't actually guarantee that she's leaving soon. Optimism is fine, but in the meantime, take steps to protect yourself and your baby.
