Oh, how lovely. You've written more!

I love what you've done with the idea of the experiment and the cage - beautiful. And your description of the tangerine, the way Sherlock divides it, the spray of the juice... I swear I could smell it *g*

I'm so glad you're still writing them, and thank you for sharing.

Oh, how I appreciate your vote of confidence! As you see, I'm still stuck in that episode, sorting out all that seems to be shown or hinted at there and linking it with other things a bit, but mostly still transfixed by the significance and implications of Hounds.

Going inside the cage was brilliant use of the resources to hand on John's part, but the symbolism screamed at me every time I watched it.

I suppose what I've written altogether is still far shorter than one of my typical MFU stories, so maybe that's my excuse, it's a longer story coming to light in small fragments!

Thank you again!!!♥

Didn't ever catch the symbolism...truly spot-on, however. Very, very good!

As in caught it while watching thr film; your piece, I mean to say, was elucidating.

Thank you so much!

Yes, I am planning more although I am writing in small installments. I haven't worked out all the riddles Hounds seemed to be posiing as well as others in Scandal. I touched on them a tiny bit in C# Minor but there's so much more to contemplate!

Thank you so much for sticking with it and for mentioning details! :D I've concluded that Sherlock likes to feed John.

Again, I like how you've structured these pieces. Sensual fragments of memories, inspired by thoughts and images. The sense that John is missing things even in this present scene, as he is taken by memory. A simple chronological retelling of events would not have the same impact.

I agree with the others, that the tangerine was a nice touch, a splash of color in a series often given to lights and shadows. The opened and closed cage doors: when I watched the episode I saw them as potential refuges, but I like that there are other layers of meaning (John as experimental animal, anything else?). Finally, I like John's flash of insight, that he may avoid observing in part because he might not like what he sees.

I have a fondness for the non-linear approach to narrative, partly because when I structure things in a straightforward way I often get bogged down in the details of how characters move from room to room. The other reason I like it generally is that interactions are often like that, with the present connecting with all sorts of images and feelings from the past or hopes for the future. Here I thought it helped show the disjointed nature of John's consciousness and also how much else was on his mind ( ... )

I'm enjoying our exchanges immensely. Would you mind if I friend you? My LJ has been almost dormant, but with my interest in Sherlock, I have been posting a few things on Tumblr that I want to put on my LJ. Nothing terribly exciting, mostly analysis, as that is the type of writing I'm most comfortable with. I may start putting up more fic recs as well, probably beginning in May. Speaking of LJ, did you see that sherlockbbc is on hiatus? Do you post your fics on other LJ comms?

I hope you aren't feeling pressured about writing. There's a line between honest encouragement and the obnoxious attitude of treating a writer like an ATM machine and I don't want to cross that line.

Cheers,

Chapbook

Me, too. I would be pleased if you friended me. I appreciate your analysis and look forward to reading your perspective on other fics that you've enjoyed. I like reading fics based on people's recommendations, especially if I have an idea what their criteria are. I read a long, completely AU fic over the weekend that I came to in that way (Performance in a Leading Role) which I've recommended to a couple folks already. Of course, time spent reading is time not spent writing, but they are two different pleasures ( ... )
